Cat Sitting in Phoenix, AZ

Hello, Phoenix! I live in East Scottsdale, and I am looking forward to meeting you and your wonderful fur babies! I live in East Scottsdale, but I am not limited to East Scottsdale for pet sitting. (I do have a building height restriction of no more than five floors due to a fear of heights.)
Since I was a child I have had a special connection with all animals, especially kitties. I was that funny kid who was always talking to animals, and I still do! I feel like kitties are earth angels here to love and comfort us...
I feel like kitties are earth angels here to love and comfort us. If you actually listen to them with not only your ears, but also take in their body language and energy you can definitely communicate with them on high levels. I have been a professional pet sitter for many years, and I have also sat many of my friend's pets before and during that time. All of my friends call me "Auntie Yolanda" when referring to me and their pets. In addition, I was a longterm volunteer with Southbay Cat Adoptions where I was able to help kitties find their fur-ever homes. I was so grateful to help so many kitties get placed with their new pet parents. When I pet sit, I treat your fur babies and your home with respect and care. My number one priority during my visit is the health and wellbeing of your sweet angels.

Learn More About Yolanda

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have cat sat for friends and family most of my life. But professionally, I was also a volunteer at a cat adoption facility for over a year, and then have also have been sitting with Meowtel since 2020.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting, is getting to see and interact with different cats and their personalities. Just like people they are all special and have their own way of experiencing the world. Some kitties are funny, some kitties are snugglers, some kitties just want to play , and some kitties want to be part of whatever you’re doing. They are all unique and amazing in their own way.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite reservation was my repeat client who had a 20-year-old Kitty who was blind and almost deaf. The pet parent regularly worked out of town and so I did a lot of overnights for her. I am a vegan, and I had these vegan bacon jerky treats that I would eat, and the kitty would smell the bacon because her sense of smell was heightened due to her vision loss and so she would try to fight me for the jerky because she thought it smelled so good. It was super cute, of course I never gave her any even though the pet parent said it would be fine. The kitty had her best life up to the end, I was sad when she finally passed away, but her little spirit was so sweet and funny that I will always cherish that time I had with her.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I do have my own kitties. I have my kitty at home Aurora. And I also have an office kitty named Cali. She’s our corporate, kitty, and my direct supervisor!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

How you feel and how your kitty feels is the most important factor when you’re looking to hire a cat sitter. You must be comfortable with the person who will be in your home taking care of your precious fur baby. Always trust your gut feelings. Don’t be afraid to ask difficult questions upfront

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I ensure the safety and security of the kitties I’m sitting by respecting the pet parents wishes and instructions, by making sure that doors to the outside are well shut, and also when I arrive taking in the kitties’ behavior, appearance, and litter box condition to make sure there isn’t anything out of the ordinary going on. Actually, litter box condition is very important when looking for clues to how your fur babies is doing as cats are notorious for hiding pain and sickness, and the litter box can alert you to an issue much quicker than behavior.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I am available during holidays. If my availability is not open, please feel free to message me as I may still be able to accommodate.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy would be what I call the “bird” , which is the stick with feathers on it which allows the kitty to jump and chase. I find it to be the toy that has the best track record to get your kitty playing.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

If a kitty is timid or anxious, the best rule of thumb is to allow them to choose to come to you, by, either sitting close to them on the ground or near where they are (but not too close!) so that they can see you, and take you in on their terms. It also doesn’t hurt to have a churu available! Cats don’t like change, so it may take a few visits, but usually they warm up after they gain some trust and see that you respect their boundaries.

Yolanda was a wonderful, attentive sitter She played with my cat, who can be quite shy. I appreciated the daily updates and photos she sent. She even brought in my package and left me a Christmas card, which was very kind. I would definitely book her again.

Yolanda was AMAZING. I have a blind cat with pancreatitis that requires close monitoring and medicine and I was so worried about leaving her. Not anymore! She was so good with my cat. She found ways to get her to take her medicine (sometimes she's not so cooperative), and she watched for abnormal behavior. My cat LOVES her (honestly, I think she likes her more than me!). She approached her right away when they first met and when I returned from my trip, my cat looked better than ever. She is magical with cats. Yolanda was also very respectful of my house and was even great with my neighbors! She is my go-to for my kitty.

Yolanda is genuinely passionate about cats and our cat knows it! She runs to her and flops on her back for her attention. You cannot replace that good feeling when you go away for a vacation.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Phoenix cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
