Cat Sitting in Scottsdale, AZ

I have had pets since the day I was born and have relied on others to watch my animals extensively while I've been gone. I have been in your shoes worrying about the care of my babies when I'm gone. Babysitting to me entails more than food, water, walks, litter scooping; most important is attention.

I have had cats primarily for the past 30 years and I consider myself a Cat Whisperer. I've had (and currently have) cats with chronic illnesses that require a variety of meds, so pills don't scare me. :)

I work from home a lot during the day. I'm a professor and only teach on campus for about four to five hours on campus during the week. so unless I'm out of town; I'm pretty wide open. And I have summers off...

Apparently I need to get a life...

Apparently I need to get a life. :)

I have a cat that walks on a leash so I am used to the goofy oddball cats who think they're dogs. :) If you have normal cats, then based on the kitties' choices, I can sit and cuddle, play with milk bottle lids (because do cats ever really play with the toys we actually buy them??), brush them if they like that, or just stay the heck away and merely let them know I"m there if they are apprehensive of strangers. I"m cool with the judgmental stares that only cats can dole out. But I can usually win over even the most skittish of cats. :)
Merely coming in and only providing food and water is not my only priority. I will send daily texts, video chats, photos or anything will make you feel that your pet is cared for and safe.

I hope to meet some Noodles! You know you also call animals food names.... admit it. :)

I pay attention to Covid protocols. Should you wish for a virtual meet and greet, I am happy to accommodate. I am fully vaccinated and boosted, adhere to mask requirements and am diligent about hand washing and sanitizing

Learn More About Reese

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love having kitty interactions obviously, but I also really like making cat parents feel comfortable leaving them with me. I've been watching a few clients for over a year and I know and love these cats a ton. I love the fact that some of my clients have no hesitation at all leaving me in their homes for weeks on end and that they have no stress or worries because they fully entrust their cats with me. :)

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always have meet and greets. Always. I take notes when I get instructions and I am very hands on as far as communication. I send photos and videos of my interactions. I've actually jokingly been told I don't have to send 'that many' of them. I try to put myself in new clients' shoes and imagine what would make me feel better with a stranger both taking care of my cat(s) but also coming into my home.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I give skittish kitties their space & let them set their boundaries. I listen to suggestions/advice from the parent(s), but I really 'listen' to the cats. While not always successful, I am very patient with those choosey boys and girls. (see my reviews, yay!) I watch their body language and sit at a distance that seems comfortable for them & talk to them gently. I let them get used to my voice & (hopefully) slowly feel comfortable with me. If treats are a part of their diet, of course I try to bribe with them. :) They key is to not rush the process and to watch and listen to their cues.

Reese went absolutely above and beyond for my kitties while I was on vacation! I have a very skittish cat and she was able to eventually coax him out and make sure he was okay, and my other cat is extremely anxious when I’m gone and she was able to keep her calm and happy for the entire week. Both of these are basically miracles! She has the “cat whisperer” magic touch. Highly recommend especially if you have anxious kitties!

Reese was PAWsome! She took the time to get to know our two kitties boys and quickly learned their quirks. She was attentive and responsive. We loved getting videos and feedback from her visits and she even went above and beyond to help out with a minor (non pet related) home emergency that happened while we were away. This is the first time we have used a pet sitting service and my mind is at ease working with Reese. We will be repeat customers and have confidence that we don’t need to worry about the boys while we are traveling. Thank MEW! 😻

Reese was the best cat sitter I've ever had! I booked last minute on a holiday weekend and Reese was accommodating, responsive and flexible, even when I had to alter the reservation. I'm usually nervous when leaving my senior cat in someone else's care since she is kind of needy and very attached to her humans! I let Reese know that Ashlyn prefers pets & love over playtime and Reese obliged and showered her with love! She sent me several pictures & videos to prove it as well! The videos warmed my heart across the miles. Reese was compassionate, caring, and loving to Ashlyn, treating her as if she were her own. She followed the instructions I left out for her - including medications Ashlyn takes, and provided detailed texts each day. No question that my Ashlyn was well taken care of in my absence. 😻

Reese was an absolutely fantastic sitter! Not only were our cats very well cared for, she also went above and beyond when they key we gave her didn't work. She made an exceptional effort working with our apartment complex maintenance team and front desk associates to get into our apartment and ensure our kitties were taken care of! Additionally, she got one of our cats who's usually pretty shy to come out of his shell immediately, and sent many pictures and videos to show how happy he and our other cat were. We will certainly look first for Reese anytime we go on vacation, as long as she'll come back after we gave her so much trouble!

Reese was absolutely fantastic with our cats! Not only did she handle our home-related requests with ease, but she also kept us entertained with delightful cat updates and videos. It was heartwarming to see our usually shy cat warm up to her so quickly. Reese's care and attention were truly exceptional, and we can't wait to have her back again!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Scottsdale cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
