When I was 18, I spent about two years house sitting for a family who cared for 40+ cats around their property. Many of the cats were rescued or formerly outdoor cats, and the family had them neutered and vaccinated. I helped with daily feeding, observing their behavior, keeping their areas clean, and making sure they were safe and cared for... Cats have been a big part of my life for many years. I currently have a cat of my own, Momo, and I understand how different each cat’s personality can be. Some cats are social and playful, while others need patience, space, and a gentle approach.
When I was 18, I spent about two years house sitting for a family who cared for 40+ cats around their property. Many of the cats were rescued or formerly outdoor cats, and the family had them neutered and vaccinated. I helped with daily feeding, observing their behavior, keeping their areas clean, and making sure they were safe and cared for. That experience taught me how to care for cats with many different temperaments, from friendly and affectionate cats to more cautious or independent ones.
I have also helped friends care for their cats, so I’m comfortable following detailed routines, managing feeding instructions, refreshing water, cleaning litter boxes, and keeping an eye on each cat’s appetite, energy level, and behavior.
During each visit, I will follow your cat’s routine closely and provide calm, reliable care. Whether your cat enjoys playtime, brushing, cuddles, or simply quiet companionship. I’ll adjust to what makes them feel comfortable.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
My experience with cats started over 10 years ago. When I was 18, I spent about two years house sitting for a family who cared for more than 40 cats on their property. Many of them were rescued outdoor cats that had been spayed/neutered and vaccinated. My responsibilities included daily feeding, monitoring their well-being, and helping maintain a safe and comfortable environment for them. 🏠🐾🐾🐾 Since then, I have continued caring for cats for friends and family, including households with multiple cats. I am comfortable following feeding routines, refreshing water, cleaning litter boxes, monitoring behavior, and providing companionship based on each cat's personality. 😻 I also have a 5-year-old cat of my own named Momo, who has taught me even more about understanding feline behavior, building trust, and recognizing when something may be out of the ordinary. 😽
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I have a 5-year-old long-haired tabby named Momo. I adopted him when he was just 3 weeks old. He was one of the 4 kittens born to a friend’s cat. 🐾 Although Momo is a very large tabby whose size and tiger-like stripes make him look like a tough neighborhood boss covered in tattoos, he’s actually timid enough to run away from a plastic bag. 😹 One of my favorite things about Momo is his sweet personality. He has never been destructive and has never been the type to knock things off shelves or scratch furniture. Every time I feed him, he walks a circle around me and rubs his head against my legs before he starts eating, almost as if he’s saying thank you. 🥰 Being Momo’s cat mom has helped me understand that every cat has a unique personality, and I always try to respect each cat’s individual comfort. 😌
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I believe every cat deserves to be approached at their own pace. When caring for timid or anxious cats, I never force interaction. Instead, I focus on creating a calm, predictable environment and allowing the cat to decide how much interaction they are comfortable with. 😺 I pay attention to body language and respect their boundaries. Some cats may prefer to observe from a distance during the first few visits, while others may warm up quickly. My goal is to make sure they feel safe and secure, whether that means engaging in play, offering gentle companionship, or simply being a quiet and reassuring presence.🐈 Over the years, I have cared for cats with many different personalities, and I've learned that patience and consistency go a long way in building trust. 😸

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Sunnyvale cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $40.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Melody has been taking care of my cat whenever I’m away for the past three years, and my cat has become such good friends with her. Every visit, she sends me lots of photos and videos and always spends quality time playing with my cat, brushing him, and giving him massages. She takes great care of all his daily needs and always goes above and beyond. If there’s a lot of litter tracked onto the floor, she’ll vacuum it without me even asking. If my cat throws up, she cleans it up right away. It’s very clear that she genuinely loves and cares about cats. Melody is truly the best cat sitter I’ve ever had, and I always feel completely at ease knowing my cat is in her care.

Melody took amazing care of my 4 cats for about 10 days while I was out of town, and she did a really great job! She cleaned the litter boxes, refilled water and food, played with the cats, and also sent me lots of photos/videos and updates during her visits, which I really appreciated. One time the cat water fountain stopped working, and she even helped fix it by watching YouTube video. My cats were well taken care of and looked very comfortable with her.
