Over the years, Iāve cared for cats of all ages and personalities, from playful kittens to shy, sensitive rescues and senior companions. Through my rescue experience, Iāve learned that building trust takes patience, kindness, and a genuine understanding of each catās individual needs.
Iāve also had the privilege of caring for my own beloved cats throughout their lives, including two who lived to 17 and 19 years old. What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to start by getting to know both the cat and their parent. Every cat has a unique personality, routine, and comfort level, so I believe understanding these details is essential. Before the first visit, Iāll ask about feeding schedules, litter box routines, favorite toys, hiding spots, health concerns, and emergency contacts. During each visit, Iāll follow the cat parentās instructions closely while paying attention to how their cat is feeling and behaving. Iāll also share photos and updates so they know their furry family member is doing well. My goal is to make the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible for both cats and their parents.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety is always my top priority. Before each visit, I carefully review the cat parentās instructions, including feeding routines, health concerns, and any special needs. During visits, I make sure doors and windows are secure, keep potentially harmful items out of reach, and pay attention to each catās behavior and well-being. I also respect my clientsā homes and privacy, leaving everything clean and secure before I leave. If I notice anything unusual, Iāll communicate with the cat parent promptly. I believe reliable care means paying attention to the little details that keep both cats and their homes safe.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I believe trust should always be earned, never forced. With over 30 years of experience caring for cats, including rescued and senior cats, Iāve learned to recognize their body language and respect their boundaries. When caring for a shy or anxious cat, I give them space, move slowly, and speak softly. I allow them to approach me when they feel comfortable rather than forcing interaction. Even if a cat prefers to hide, Iāll make sure their basic needs are met while respecting their sense of security. My goal is to help every cat feel safe and comfortable in their own home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
