I will be attuned to your cat’s needs and let them (and you!) lead the way in terms of how much... Hello! My name is Darby and I’d be honored to love on your cat while you’re away. My #1 priority is that your cat is healthy and comfortable. I will set a great atmosphere to ensure they have minimal stress, and thus you can relax too.
I appreciate that cats each have a unique personality — I’m comfortable with shy cats, protective cats, cuddly cats, you name it! I will be attuned to your cat’s needs and let them (and you!) lead the way in terms of how much attention they want from me. I recognize some cats need their space to feel comfortable while others want all the pets in the world. I’ll be sure to send you pictures each visit so you can see how your baby is doing.
My last cat, Asher, was diabetic so I’m totally comfortable administering insulin shots if that is something your cat needs. Like I said, health and comfort are most important to me!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love cat sitting because I love getting to know each cat’s unique personality and mannerisms. I also love to reassure a cat parent while they’re away, sending pictures and letting them know how much I appreciate the time with their cat. I lost my cat to cancer last year (2024) and cannot have another right now, so it brings me added joy to spend time with others’ cats.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes. My family is on the east coast and I typically travel on non-holiday weeks to see them, so that I can save some money. I will rarely (once every 3 years) travel home for Christmas but otherwise I am local to Arvada. I know how hard it is to find pet care and would be glad to reassure someone that their baby is happy and healthy while they’re away celebrating!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Some of my friends have timid and protective cats, hence why I feel comfortable approaching any cat’s home. I typically get low to their level to minimize intimidation, and will talk in a cheery voice to show them that I am not a threat. I blink slowly at them as I’ve learned that indicates passivity. I will just sit for a while so they can get used to my smell and presence before moving around to clean, feed them, refill water, etc. If the owner says it’s ok, I’ll also give them a treat early on to signal that I am friendly.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Arvada cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
