I'm Chivonne | Cat Sitting in Englewood, CO

I will treat your cat like the King or Queen they are! Hi, I'm Chivonne, and I simply love cats! I am currently working on several writing projects, which allows me to work from home and have a flexible sitting schedule. I have decades of experience with all types of cats. Shy and frightened ones are my specialty, as they have always seemed to gravitate my way. I have found that I have an infinite amount of patience for them because I have seen firsthand how just a bit of consistent patience can literally change a cat's life. Nothing is more rewarding to me than earning the trust of a cat! Along with being patient, I am reliable,...

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I just love meeting new cats. I love getting to know their personality and quirks, what they like and what they don't. It feels less like a "job" and more like something to look forward to. "Who do I get to visit today??" is an exciting thought. I also love being able to provide solid peace of mind to you, the human! I know the stress of having to leave a cat in someone else's care for an hour, a day, a week. You want that person to be trustworthy and you want to feel like that person will care for your cat the same way you would. And I will!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Pryanik (it means Honeycake in Russian) is my 6 year old Scottish Straight. We adopted him at age 4 from a breeder who was retiring him. He is originally from Russia. He was sent to us by our angel boy, Cowboy, who passed away at the age of 12. Gov'nor is my Tuxedo girl who just turned 1. We adopted her from a shelter. We were looking for a completely different type of cat but there was just something in her eyes that made us want to meet her. The shelter staff said she was the highest level of scared. She had been living in a cat colony from birth. For two months no one was interested because she was so terrified that she would run headfirst into walls to avoid humans. We brought her home and with kindness and patience, brought her out of her shell. You wouldn't recognize her now!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Patience. Building trust takes time and effort. It's great when cats warm up quickly, but it's so rewarding when you can earn the shy ones' trust. I've found that things like using a soft, consistent voice and getting down on their level, and giving them plenty of space and access to their safe spaces helps tremendously in this process. I will never force a cat to interact with me and will never force a cat to do anything they clearly don't want to do (safety considered, of course). I want your cat to trust and like me, and no matter what, this takes time and patience. If this means spending the majority of the visit sitting on the floor and talking to your cat about my day, the weather, the new novel I'm reading, etc. in order to build that trust, I'll do it, and happily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Englewood cat sitting rates will vary based on the pet sitter's experience and expertise, but the average price for a cat sitter is $29.00. Prices will also depend on how long your cat needs company for, whether that be a drop-in visit or overnight stay in your home. Meowtel sitters offer 20, 45, and 60-minute drop-in visits that allow for fully tailored care for your kitties. Your caregiver may also need to charge a little more if they have to travel far, so we'll match you with the best options which are close by.

Every Meowtel cat sitter has been thoroughly vetted, background-checked, and is insured through Meowtel on eligible reservations via our Meowtel Promise. To ensure total peace of mind while you're away, every Meowtel reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can have full confidence in your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress for your kitties. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend that you book daily visits with your sitter to keep your cats in their routine and to help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each Meowtel cat sitting visit will include the whole 9 yards: feeding, refreshing the water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, as well as any special requests you may have. We know every kitty is different and that's why we offer tailored, in-home services since cats don't do well outside their own homes. Plus, every reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you can meet your sitter before you leave to ensure it will be a purrfect fit.
