What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I truly just love cats. When I see one outside, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to kneel down and “pspspspsps” in hopes of meeting them.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Cat owners already know this but I would say the most important quality to look for in a sitter is their ability to respect a cat’s boundaries. I like that Meowtel is only for cats - apps like Rover are great but cat care is dramatically different than dog care. If a sitter hasn’t had years of experience caring for cats, they might not know the intricacies of cat behavior.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

As always, I observe and adapt to the cat’s behavior. I’ll make sure to give them space to decompress, while also avoiding eye contact and staying quiet. If the cat seems interested in meeting me - I’ll sit on the floor and offer an outstretched, open hand. If I’m lucky, maybe they will sniff my hand! As the owner of a cat who can easily be overstimulated, I get it! If they are most comfortable keeping to themselves, then I have no problem just sitting on the couch and maybe watching a show while they investigate this new person in their space. It’s their home, I’m just visiting. The least I can do is make sure they are as comfortable as I can make them.

Aubrey has always cared for my cat like she is her own. My cat can be kind of shy at first and the approach she takes every single time is slow and at my cats pace. Ten minutes into any cat sitting, my cat is comfortably purring on her lap. She also takes care of my home often when taking care of my cat. All throw up and litter is cleaned, all toys are put in their right spot but accessible to my cat. Ultimately she makes sure my cat is well cared for and I can come home after a long trip to no worries or chores regarding my pet.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
