Kat's Meowvelous Cat Care

I'm Kat

Cat Sitting in Longmont, CO

I am a Meowmy of three darling feline babies and I love them very much! I have one black cat and one giant ginger tabby along with one smaller ticked tabby. I used to volunteer at a cat shelter, and so I have a lot of experience with many different types of cats. I worked with the shy, feral and spicy cats mostly when I volunteered. I also worked with the FIV cats and they stole my heart! I loved working with the cats that other people were afraid of because I realized that they were just scared of people. That is not their fault and they should be given the opportunity to learn that humans can provide love and I strived to make sure they knew they could trust me... That is not their fault and they should be given the opportunity to learn that humans can provide love and I strived to make sure they knew they could trust me. In fact, my ticked tabby is a recovered feral from that shelter and he is my inspiration.

I understand that for the vast majority of cat parents, we are indeed parents, our cats are our babies and we don't like the idea of leaving them in the care of strangers. I get separation anxiety when I have to leave for long periods of times so I understand the importance of having someone you can trust watch your kitties. I have watched some cats already, and I have experience giving cats medicine, from normal pills to insulin shots and FIP treatments. I pride myself on being able to understand cats' body language and work with them to keep them feeling safe and happy. I am great at following care instructions and never forget a medication or an important detail! Outside of cat sitting I usually work with children as a nanny. I currently can sit whenever, but I would prefer to stay around the Broomfield area.

Learn More About Kat

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for about 6 years now. I have experience sitting for cats of all personality types and with varying medical needs. I have experience dispensing insulin and other shot medications, as well as topical medications, pills and eye drops. I am good at giving medications to cats, and will listen to what works for you and your cat(s). I have been able to make all sorts of cats feel comfortable and safe in my presence which is something I take great pride in, and I treat them as if they are my own babies.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to meet new cats! I enjoy getting to know their personalities and play with them. I enjoy getting snuggles, boops, purrs and the occasional kisses from the cats I care for. I also just really enjoy the company of cats, I find being around them soothing and it makes my day to make new friends with cats. I do my best to give the cats as much attention as they want, in whichever method they prefer to receive it, I also usually talk to the cats and give them compliments. I do my best to make them feel as comfy and loved as possible.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have loved meeting and caring for all the cats I have cared for so it is hard to pick just one reservation! I will say though that the greatest compliments I have received after reservations are when the parents come back and tell me that their kitties were clearly happier than usual when they were with a cat sitter. That warms my heart immensely and makes me very proud! I also love it when I am told that it is clear to their parents, even just in photos, that their cats trust me or enjoy my company. I also love being able to coax more timid cats out of their shells and give them love!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I am a purroud Meowmy to 2 sweet babies! Their names are Flufflepuff aka Fluffles aka Flerken, and Djoser aka Djoser joze. Fluffles is a big part Maine coon kitty who loves to play and lay about the house! He is a beautiful ginger tabby!Djoser is an adorable, super smart as and weird tuxedo who is named after a pharoah! Boyhof my kitties has their own personality and I love them for who they are and the joy they bring!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I really believe that a meet and greet will tell you so much more than just a bio can. Cats especially are great at reading people and while some cats may not trust new people, sometimes just seeing how the cat sitter interacts with shy cats can put you at ease. I will say if your cats need medicine, it would be a good idea to find someone with experience dispensing that medicine, especially if it's one that can't be skipped. Or if you can't find someone with experience then have someone that you can take time to teach the correct method to and make sure they feel comfortable doing so.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I respond to set up a meet and greet as soon as I can and then I read through the cat profiles on Meowtel. This helps me know which cat is who for the most part (some cats are very close in coloring etc) and then I can know ahead of time if I have any questions for the cat parents. I also like to share my experience with new cat parent so that they feel more at ease leaving their baby in my care. I am also quick to respond to questions they may have, and I send lots of pictures and updates to the parents while they are gone.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I lock the door after coming inside the home, especially if the house is bigger and I won't be able to hear the door easily. I also open the door slowly so as to ensure that no cats dart out the door. I also don't let the cats outside as per Meowtel guidelines and well cats really aren't safe outside. If there is more than one cat and not all of them get along, I will follow your guidelines as to how you usually separate them, or what to look out for. I am also really good at reading cat body language so I can tell when to step in if the play is getting too rough, etc.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I usually don't do much during holidays, I may have plans on the day of, but even then I can usually make scheduled visits, no problem! The days around the holidays themselves I generally have an open schedule on those days. If for some reason I won't be available for a holiday, I will update my availability as soon as possible.

What is your favorite cat toy?

This is another hard question to pick just one answer to! I think for me it really depends on the cat and what they prefer to play with. But I enjoy using wand toys, so that I can get the cat interested in it safely, and then they can ambush the end of the toy. Catnip can also be fun if you are okay with your cats having it. I do my best to avoid the laser pointer since it can be bad for cats if that is all they play with. I do love mice toys and ones you can throw for them to chase as well! My cats have some great catnip mice, a few throwing toys and some of those ball toys they bat around.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I speak very softly and walk slowly around timid or anxious cats. I do my best to be near them, let them see me and know that I am there, but without making them feel threatened. If they hide, then they hid, but I prefer to at least lay on eyes on them when I am cat sitting. I used to volunteer with shy and feral cats so I am good at respecting their boundaries as well as reading their body language to know when I am too close or making them anxious. I actually used to read to my recovered feral cat and I will also get down on the floor to make myself be smaller so they are less anxious.

Kat was very thorough with her care for my girls and sent lots of pictures and updates. She was able to get my very picky cat to eat by hand and my cats let her pet them which is rare. Kat also spent extra time with them playing, which I appreciated. I will definitely use Kat again and would recommend her to anyone. THANK YOU Kat!

Kat was truly incredible! We have five senior cats who require a lot of medication, and Kat handled everything flawlessly. Before our meet and greet, Kat took the time to thoroughly read through our profile and came prepared with thoughtful questions. Kat followed all of our instructions to the letter and even went above and beyond, spending extra time to ensure that all kitties were accounted for, including one who’s a master at hiding, before leaving. Our cats are our kids, and I trust Kat completely with their care.

Kat was so great with my cat! I was nervous leaving him as he has a special diet and get insulin 2x a day. She provided good updates on how he was doing and was patient with all the instructions I left. Kat had great communication with me at each visit. When I returned home my cat was chill and happy which was so nice. You can tell Kat cares and would be glad for her to help again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
