Cat Sitting in Westminster, CO

MY CAT EXPERIENCE

Not only am I a cat mom to two furbabies (Tiger + Luna), but
I've also been an exclusive cat sitter for 4+ years on a different platform, where I'm a 5 star 'Star Sitter,' with 200+ reviews & several happy long-term clients.

During catsitting, I am happy to check the mail & grab your packages. I always do a meet and greet with clients before the booking begins to ensure it's a fit and that both parties feel comfortable.

I have a wide range of experience taking care of special needs kitties with cerebellar hypoplasia (which makes them wobbly). I have experience with administering insulin to diabetic kitties, administering transdermal medicine for kitties with hyperthyroidism, giving oral liquids for illness, and oral capsules in the form of Pill Pockets, crushed in wet food, and manual pilling (definitely my least favorite!)

I also have experience with kitties on raw food diets, senior kitties, multi-cat households, pregnant kitties, weighing and caring for newborn kittens, low vision and hearing, and shy kitties...

GROWING UP WITH ANIMALS

I have grown up with pets almost my whole life. My parents got our first dog, Prince, when I was merely five years old! Then we got our second dog, Cujo (I didn't pick the name), when I was 7 years old. In my teen years, we had cats for a while too. One of my responsibilities growing up was to take care of our dogs and cats.

I would feed the dogs, check their water, let them outside when I got home from school and picked up the yard. I also cleaned the cat litter boxes and tended to the cat's food and water. Additionally, my family had chickens and guinea hens. I helped care for their needs, grabbed the eggs, and cleaned the coops.

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL LIFE

I do have a day job working remotely as a Senior Corporate Communications Specialist for a healthcare nonprofit. This entails a lot of creative work - writing, editing, website design/layout, and creating graphics. On the side, I also do event marketing for a variety of brands including Celsius, Bardstown, Green River, etc. On a personal note, I moved to Colorado in April 2025 from Minnesota.

LET'S DO THIS 😺😺

I would take care of your kitties like they were my own. And for the record, I call my cats my children and I always tell them I love them before I go anywhere.

The devil is in the details - such as not opening the front door fully, so your cat doesn't run out. I take care of their basic needs like food, water, medications (if needed), and litter. After their basic needs are taken care of, I give the cat(s) lots of love and playtime.

Learn More About Melissa

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy meeting new kitties and making cat parents feel at ease. I know from my own personal experience when I'm away from home that I feel a sense of peace and comfort knowing that my fur babies are well taken care of. I'd like to be that person for you so that you can enjoy your time away with less worry.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes of course! My kitties are Tiger and Luna. Tiger is a gray tabby and she's 15 years old. She's more skittish and shy, but definitely still social and affectionate. She also really loves treats. Luna is a tortie and she's 8 years old. She is extremely affectionate, social, and friendly. She's literally my shadow and follows me pretty much everywhere.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Having done over 200+ petsits, I've met a lot of cat parents. We will agree upon a set time and date for me to come over and meet you and your cat(s). This process usually takes 30ish minutes. During that time, we'll get to know each other as people a little. It's nice to get to someone a bit more when you're inviting them into your home to take care of your precious cargo. I'll also meet your cat(s) for the first-time to see how we vibe. The cat parent will show me where all the basics are located, we'll discuss timing, and how to enter the space.

Melissa did a wonderful job caring for my cats. I have one who needs a pill and will only take it from a pill popper. Melissa took details notes and followed them perfectly. She had no challenges administering the pills. I received lots of photos and informative updates. I appreciate Melissa’s attention to detail and her soft approach with my shy girl. I’m grateful to have found Melissa to watch my cats. I know they are in great hands.

Melissa has sat for our cats twice now. She did a wonderful job bonding with both of my cats. We have a very shy cat who warmed up to her quickly. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing my cats were in great hands. She made sure the meds were administered on time. I will book Melissa again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Westminster cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
