What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a nanny for over 30 years, and during that time many of the families I’ve worked for have had pets. I always consider them an integral part of the family, and have often cared for them when families are traveling. I have also cared for many pets on my own time and have decided to shift from caring for kiddos full time, to caring for fur babies as my priority and focus.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Bonding with cats is my absolutely favorite part about this profession. I love seeing shy kitties come out of their shell and build trust with me, and hat so much joy out of providing attention and play time for cats who are highly social!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My very first Meowtel reservation will always have my heart..it was a shy kitty (didn’t even come out when I was there for the meet and greet) who opened up to me over the few days I was coming by to care for her. Moosh!!!! She will always be one of my faves.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 of my own beloved cats. Star is 2 years old, and was adopted from a cat cafe where I read tarot. She was sitting with me one afternoon, and I pulled a card for her and she got the Star..I adopted her on the spot and that is how she got her name. I also have Filbert who is 13 years old, and was adopted from the Denver Dumb Friends League. He has been such a joy to have in our lives.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Trust your intuition, if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t right. These are your beloved family members and you get to advocate for them!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I am diligent when coming and going, so no kitties even have the opportunity to escape. I always triple check the house is secure when I leave, and never leave anything out the kitties could get into. I once had a client who’d left a bouquet of flowers containing Lilys which are highly toxic and even deadly to cats. I noticed immediately and disposed of them. I let my client know and they were so grateful for the information and the care.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am! I don’t travel much over the holidays, so am typically around for those who do! I love making the holidays special for your beloved kitties while you are away. I often bring a little gift of a new toy to celebrate with my cat clients!
What is your favorite cat toy?
I gift all new clients a handmade felt toy stuffed with homegrown catnip that is locally made! My cats absolutely love these toys so I had several made for my clients!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I have a deep respect and regard for autonomy. I am understanding that even the shyest and most anxious cats deserve love and care. I don’t try to force anything, and give all of my kitty clients the opportunity to learn to trust me in their own time.

Erin was so wonderful! This was our first time being away from our girl Elvira since we adopted her and we were nervous since Elvira is usually quite shy/scared of new people. Erin was so patient and caring with Elvira and really took the time to get to know her, spend a lot of quality time with her, play with her favorite toys, etc. and soon Elvira was clearly very comfortable and at ease in Erin’s care. Erin’s communication was amazing and we appreciated getting daily updates, photos and videos which brought us so much peace of mind. We will definitely be working with Erin again!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Wheat Ridge cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

I cannot recommend Erin highly enough! She recently watched my shy cat, Moosh, for a few days, and I was beyond impressed with her care and attention. Moosh is typically very reserved, but she absolutely adored Erin, which speaks volumes about how kind and patient she is with animals. Erin went above and beyond—she sent me lots of pictures and updates, which made me feel so at ease while I was away. She even stayed longer than needed to make sure Moosh was happy and comfortable and cleaned everything impeccably before leaving. It was such a great experience, and I will definitely trust Erin with Moosh again in the future!
