-One free 30-minute consultation to meet you and your cat, learn about their routines, pick up... Hi, I'm Kayla! I have been working as a catsitter for over three years, and I absolutely love it. I also have two cats, Ginger and Matcha, who I am obsessed with. As a cat parent, I know how stressful it is to leave them behind while you are traveling. As your cat sitter, I will make sure you receive the following to give you peace of mind while on vacation:
-One free 30-minute consultation to meet you and your cat, learn about their routines, pick up keys, and discuss any questions
-1-2 daily drop-in visit(s), at consistent times, depending on your preference
-Structured visit that will consist of cleaning the litter box, feeding, water refills, and some minutes of playtime
-Daily report after the last visit detailing how your pet did, any unusual activity, any exciting updates, and cute pictures of your furry friend
I live and work in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. I am within walking distance of Bucktown, Logan Square, Wicker Park, and parts of Avondale. I also have a car and am open to traveling beyond these neighborhoods. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love meeting new cats! It’s fun to learn each cat’s quirks and see how they open up to me over time. Plus, I’m a cat person - who wouldn’t love to hang out with cats?
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite reservation so far has been a cat that I’ve been watching for over a year now. She is a very sweet kitty who clearly loves her parents very much, and was anxious whenever they were gone. Over the past year I have spent a lot of time building up our relationship, letting her get to know me, and mostly interacting with her from afar which was her preference. My last visit, we finally had a breakthrough, and she let me pet her for the first time! She is now very excited for pets and chin scritches when I visit. I love this particular client and story because it just goes to show that building a relationship with a kitty can take a long time, but the amount of joy I feel when a cat trusts me for the first time is just amazing!
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love any type of string toy because I love watching cats jump! They are so athletic and it’s always fun to get a lot of their energy out.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I will usually introduce myself by crouching to their level and sticking my hand out for them to sniff, even with cats that hide. I will leave treats near their hiding space and sometimes play with toys near the hiding spot for a few minutes to associate myself with positive activies. Most importantly, I will never try to force a cat to come out of their hiding spot! I’ve found that letting cats go at their own pace often helps with building trust in a new relationship.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
