What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting since July 2024 and I really enjoy getting to take care of so many different kitties. I already knew a lot about caring for cats but I am able to learn so much more about their personalities, and different products such as food, litter, toys, etc. I will never give unsolicited advice about how to care for your kitties, but if you would like to know my opinion on how you may be able to better care for them, just ask!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy getting to know each cat individually and learn their different personalities. Every cat is unique and it’s like making a new friend every time I meet one!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have two kitties of my own. Their names are Blueberry Pie, and Apple Pie! I adopted them in November 2023, when they were 3 months old, but our bond feels like we’ve been together forever! Blueberry loves to play and Apple is pretty chill until he gets the zoomies. I love learning new things about my boys everyday and I can’t wait to watch them grow 🥰
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ask all the questions. And be prepared to answer a lot of questions too! No question is silly when it comes to the care of your fur babies. You have to make sure everyone involved is a good fit ☺️
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Before reservations, I always make sure to ask my clients important questions about the home and anything that may be a hazard to the cats. During my visits with the cats, I take note to anything that may be a concern, such as an open window, or anything that may have been left out that the cats can get into. I also ensure the security of the home by making sure the doors are locked when I arrive, locking the door once I enter the home, and double check that I lock all doors when I leave.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! I’m usually available during holidays. Holidays are usually when people need a sitter the most and I’m happy to help! If I am unavailable, my calendar will accurately reflect that.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I like to give kitties their time and space. They need to know you’re not a threat and allowing them to process you in their own time helps build trust. I like to think I can understand cats and their personalities very well so it usually doesn’t take long for a shy kitty to warm up to me 😸

But when I first met Mary prior to my trip, her kindness and knowledge of cats can through and I immediately calmed down. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Baltimore cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Mary was fantastic! She did a great job getting my shy kitties to come out of their shell to eat and play with her, and they seemed to be pretty excited to see her by the end of the week. Jack really loves Mary. He usually takes a while to warm up to people. Seeing him be excited to see Mary, wanting her to stay, and being willing to play with her and let her pet him was awesome. He is also needs a transdermal medication. I was nervous as he is not a touchy cat. Mary did a great job maintaining a positive environment and in building trust. Her experience is very evident to both me and Jack.

Mary did a fantastic job with my cat Anya! She was patient with Anya (and with me!) during the first few days while Anya adjusted to me being away, and even got her to play a little bit by the end. Medications and supplements were given as instructed, the water bowl and litter box were always cleaned, and Mary was great about just sitting with Anya and giving her some love. She's a fantastic cat sitter! It's my first time leaving my cats with someone I don't know and was very anxious about leaving them alone, but Mary took such good care of them, was very attentive to my directions and went above and beyond. Mary accepted our last minute request, on a holiday weekend, and was absolutely amazing. Mary is amazing! My kids normally don't trust anyone and Mary was really able to get them to open up while she was here. Everything was perfectly taken care of and the updates were great! I had nothing to worry about. I will definitely book her again.
