Cat Sitting in Salem, NH

Hi, I’m Brigid!

I've always been a cat mom. I grew up in a home with cats and currently have a cat of my own, so I know firsthand how much they become part of the family. I’ve always loved their unique personalities and the little quirks that make every cat unique.

I’m the kind of person who will happily spend extra time sitting on the floor letting a shy cat come to me, playing with the energetic ones, or giving lots of attention to the cats who want to be cuddled. I love getting to know what makes each cat comfortable and happy...

I love getting to know what makes each cat comfortable and happy.

When I’m caring for your cat, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I’ll make sure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, plenty of playtime and attention, and of course, lots of love. I’ll also send you photos and updates during my visits so you can see your kitty is doing well while you’re away.

I know how hard it can be to leave your pet when you travel or have a busy schedule, and my goal is to make that part as easy as possible. Your cat gets a loving friend to hang out with, and you get peace of mind knowing they’re being well cared for. ā¤ļø

Learn More About Brigid

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been around cats my entire life. I grew up with cats in my home and currently have a cat of my own. Over the years, I’ve regularly cared for my parents’, sister’s, and, neighbor’s cats while they’ve been away. I’m comfortable with all of the day-to-day care cats need, including feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, playtime, and of course, plenty of attention and affection. Im comfortable caring for cats with minor medical needs such as needing certain supplements for arthritis, dehydration, or certain diet restrictions. I’ve also cared for cats with very different personalities, from independent cats who prefer their space to those who want lots of cuddles and companionship. While I’m newer to cat sitting professionally, I have many years of hands-on experience caring for cats and genuinely love spending time with them. I’ll treat your cat like my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with a new cat parent, I start by getting to know both the cat and their routine. I like to ask about their personality, feeding schedule, litter box routine, favorite activities, quirks, and anything that helps them feel comfortable. I also make sure I understand any medications, supplements, dietary restrictions, or special care they may need. I’ll go over the details of the home, emergency contacts, and any specific instructions so I feel fully prepared before the first visit. I encourage cat parents to tell me anything they think is important for me to know. During each visit, I follow their normal routine as closely as possible and keep the owner updated with photos and a quick report. I want cat parents to feel comfortable knowing their cat is being cared for exactly the way they would care for them themselves.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

With anxious or timid cats, I try to match their energy and let them come to me rather than overwhelming them with attention. I’ll give them space and allow them to approach on their own terms, while staying nearby so they can get comfortable with my presence. I pay close attention to their body language and adjust based on what they’re communicating. If they seem curious, I’ll gently engage with them through talking, play, or treats. If they’re nervous and want to hide or keep their distance, I respect that and don’t force interaction. I want them to feel safe. I’ve found that patience and consistency go a long way with timid cats. My goal is to build trust gradually so that by the end of my visits, they feel comfortable and relaxed around me.

This month

Brigid was so attentive and followed all my instructions exactly. My cats are very shy and don’t come out of hiding for anyone, but they loved her! She sent lots of cute pictures and videos so I could see what they were up to. They were so well taken care of they barely missed me while I was away. I’ll definitely book again!!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Salem cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
