What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Getting to work with cats of all sorts, and helping them thrive while their owners are away. While we all adore our furry friends it isn't always possible to be home with them 24/7 and kennels can be very stressful for a cat. I like being there so owners know their furry friend is going to be well cared for while they gone, something I always want for my cats.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 2 cats, Skimbleshanks and Cosette. I adopted Skimble 2 weeks after my senior cat passed and she rescued me as much as I rescued her. A year later I adopted Cosette who spent the first 7 years of her life in a lab cage for medicine testing. She was shy and timid at first and very distrustful of humans, a year later she sleeps next to me every night and is very outgoing and affectionate. She even loves attention from strangers.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I found the best thing I can do is to let them warm up to me in their own time and just be a calm presence in a neutral space like a kitchen, away from food and water sources and away from litter boxes beyond cleaning and refills. Giving space to these areas let's an anxious cat know I'm not going to invade their territory to deeply. Sitting on the floor with nearby treats is helpful and not reaching out to them until they initiate contact if they ever do. Many cats are curious and may want to eventually investigate me and I would let them without moving or reaching for them until they are comfortable with me. If they never warm up to me that's also okay, I just need to put eyes on them so I can confirm they are doing well and let them have their space.

Savie is so so great with our 3.5yrold boy Spike, he has some anxiety issues but absolutely adores her ☺️ we just got our kitten Opie but she’s breaking out of that shell and i’m sure will be ready to play next time! This is the 2nd time she’s watched our babies and I feel secure and at peace leaving home knowing she’s there to care for them 🫶🏻

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
