What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting since 2021, but I have been around cats and kittens for most of my life. Growing up, I had cats with me since I was a little girl. While I was working, it was common for me to have "work" cats. I would keep cat food in my personal vehicle and feed the cats as soon as I arrived at work and again after my shift ended. My coworkers would often see the cats approaching me after work and would ask, "Is that your cat?" I would confidently reply, "Absolutely, yes." I typically worked six days a week, and on my days off, I would worry about the cats not eating.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I absolutely love caring for pets! I have many clients, and I especially adore their cats. I've found myself falling in love with a lot of them. There’s a sign on my kitchen table that says, "Do What You Love and Love What You Do!" My husband often mentions how much I love cats, so cat sitting is a perfect opportunity for me. I could spend all day playing with these furry friends!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have a fur baby who loves to hide and open all kinds of doors, especially those leading to kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Most of the fur babies that hide from me end up becoming my best friends. They seem to have an instinct for determining whether someone is a cat person, and it’s usually spot on. Most of my fur babies are excited to see me, and we have a lot of fun playing together. I always make sure to see all my fur babies before I leave a sitting job. I am dedicated to staying there all day, if necessary, until I find the one that’s hiding, and it usually doesn’t take long. I once had a client who created hiding spots in his home for one of his cats to evade me, but I managed to find that cat, too.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Right now, I don’t have any baby kittens, but I do have a cat named Silverbelles who is about 8 years old. I also have another cat named Delilah, also known as DD, and she is around 4 years old. Additionally, I’m caring for my son's cat, Pixie, while he is out of the country for about 9 months; Pixie is 13 years old. So, at the moment, I’m looking after three cats, and I love it! For the past 30+ years, all of my pets have been with me from the time they were babies until they crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Most of the pets I've lost have been cremated so that I can be buried with them.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I advise customers to meet and interview their cat sitter beforehand. It’s important for the customer to feel completely comfortable with their choice. During a Greet & Meet, we typically spend 20 to 30 minutes together, but sometimes these meetings can last an hour or even two. Most of my clients prefer to hire me exclusively as their cat sitter. In one instance, a client had a relative call me to interview about caring for their cat. The conversation ended up showing that I was a perfect match for her friend’s furry companion.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always follow the same process. I attend the Great & Meet at their request, where I listen carefully and take notes on everything the client shares about their furry companions. Since we are always on camera, my customers quickly see how thorough I am, and I never take shortcuts. I believe in providing the best care for both the pets and their owners. I am always just a phone call away. Additionally, I bring in packages, mail, and newspapers. I have also been asked to feed the squirrels, water the plants, and keep the birdbath full.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Upon my arrival, my first priority is to greet my furry companions and engage with them. Once they recognize that I am present, I will follow their owners' instructions for feeding, administering any necessary injections, and ensuring their water and food bowls are clean. I will also clean the litter boxes and dispose of the litter as directed. Keeping the area tidy and orderly is important to me. I have an extensive collection of cat toys, which often endears me to the cats and helps establish our routine. If I encounter any shy pets, I make it a point to stay until I can find them and take photographs. Typically, I capture between 30 to 50 pictures during my visits.ke photographs. Are you usually available during holidays?

I am typically available during holidays, unless there is an election occurring. I work for Harris County Elections as a Presiding Judge, which may affect my availability. Additionally, I might not be available if my husband and I are on vacation.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I'm not sure how many cat toys I have, but it's about 30 to 40. I try to pay attention to which toys my fur-babies prefer and focus on those for playtime. With such a large collection, it's hard to choose a favorite. Luckily, my fur-babies are good at expressing which toys they want to play with. I often visit the pet store, always on the lookout for new toys and things for my sweet fur-babies. I enjoy browsing the store, and if they have any animals available, I like to spend time talking to and playing with them.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Some fur babies take a little longer to warm up to people. If they are timid or anxious, I make it a point to take my time and gradually get to know them better. Sometimes I encounter two fur babies—one might be super friendly while the other is quiet. I’ve had some fur babies hide from me at first, but after a few visits, they become my best friends. Once you gain a fur baby’s trust, they become your little companion. Each fur baby is unique, and sometimes it takes time to win them over. Once they feel comfortable with you, it turns into all play, petting, hugs, and a great time!

The reservation went perfectly. I will not use anyone except for Denise to care for Mendy & Molly. Denise is extremely responsible and exceeds our expectations. She does extra things such as cleaning the kitchen floor, cleaning the washer & dryer room where the litter boxes are located. She brings in our mail, she sends many, many photographs, text messages with each and every visit. I am very comfortable while I am away knowing Mendy & Molly are in her care. Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
