Every visit includes feeding, fresh water bowls, litter care, medications if needed (pills, injections, drops, ointments), and plenty of updates - because the photos are for your peace of mind as much as their care. Fair warning: I’m a bit of a “Catographer,” so expect portraits and videos.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a professional sitter on Meowtel for over five years, with 100+ reservations and a wonderful family of repeat clients. Before that, I was simply the person every friend and neighbor trusted with their cats.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! I’m a devoted cat mom to four: Spot, Luna, Tony Stark, and Bug. They keep me humble, fluent in cat, and well-practiced in everything from mealtime negotiations to reading the subtlest tail flick. Loving on my own crew every day is exactly why I understand how much trust it takes to hand someone else your babies and why I care for every client kitty like one of my own.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I confirm entry and lock-up instructions at the meet-and-greet and follow them exactly, and I treat key handling and alarm codes with the same care I’d want for my own home. During visits I do a quick safety scan (doors, windows, anything a curious cat could get into) and I photograph and report anything unusual right away. Consistent visit times, careful notes, and constant communication mean there are never surprises.
What is your favorite cat toy?
A simple spring. I have never once met a cat who could resist a spring, and I always have a few on hand. (Wand toys are a close second - nothing builds trust with a shy kitty faster than play from a comfortable distance.)
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
This is my specialty. I never force, chase, or reach into hiding spots. I let the cat set the pace: I sit low, speak softly, keep my movements slow, and often just quietly exist nearby so they learn I’m safe. I read tail, ears, and whiskers closely and stop the moment a cat says “that’s enough.” Many of my shyest clients have come out to greet me by the end of a reservation, some for the first time with any stranger.

Marlena has without a doubt given me back my life! I have been afraid to leave my boys, Sunny and Stormie, since their adoption nearly two years ago. I was worried no one would understand my two little guys and their opposite personalities. Stormie is fearful of anyone other than me and hides all the time, whereas his little brother is playful and never meets a stranger. Marlena took the time to play with Sunny and then quietly seek out Stormie just to let him know he wasn’t alone without being forceful or encroaching on his safe space. This was my first time using a cat sitter, and I am absolutely thrilled with the experience. One of my cats is really timid, so I was worried they would just hide from a stranger. Marlena recently watched our cat during a two-week trip. She took good care of our girl, who is usually shy with strangers, and kept her well-fed. I also appreciated her thoughtfulness in picking up our mail and moving the trashcan to the garage. However, basic maintenance needs improvement. I had to sanitize the kitchen table and console due to left-behind wet food stains. Most importantly, the litter box area wasn't swept for the full two weeks, causing a significant mess. For a highly rated professional, routine litter maintenance should be a priority for the cat’s well-being and the home, not an optional final courtesy. Additionally, Marlena left our house key under the mat without checking first. While convenient this time, it's something future clients might want to discuss beforehand. I would recommend Marlena for shorter stays. LITTER AREA HYGIENE: Marlena did message me to let me know she was unable to locate a dustpan. What she omitted is that she waited until AFTER HER FINAL VISIT—16 days into the booking—to send this text, and she never actually asked where it was. She apparently had no intention of remedying the situation, since she informed me in that same text that she had already left the key under the doormat. When I very diplomatically replied, noting that I would have gladly told her where the tools were had she asked sooner so she wouldn’t have had to live with the tracked litter all that time, she casually responded: "Oh the broom and dustpan was more that I wanted to clean up before y’all got home. It didn’t exactly bother me." This shows a shocking lack of professional standards, especially coming from a 5-star rated sitter. The documented reality is that proper hygiene was not maintained around the litter area, leaving our home's condition severely compromised at checkout, with unswept cat litter tracking through the hallway and into our kitchen. HOUSE KEY: Leaving the key under the mat turned out to be a logistical convenience for us this time, and it is true that I thanked Marlena for doing so. However, my thanking her does not change the fact that she did this entirely without my prior knowledge or agreement. The physical house key was left completely unsecured under an outdoor doormat at checkout. This was not a "miscommunication" issue. This is an important security fact future clients should be aware of before booking her services.

I have always been anxious about the idea of having a stranger in my home with my precious kitties, but Marlena quickly dispelled my fears when she came for a meet-and-greet. It was clear from the start that she knew what she was doing. She identified that our keypad lock was low on battery just by hearing the sound (we had no idea!) based on her experience with past clients. She also noticed one of my cats lost her collar (needed for the automatic feeder) and found it and put it back on. She was also great about keeping in touch - while we were gone she sent lots of photos and videos. It made me really happy to see that my kitties were getting love and treats in my absence. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Mckinney cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
