Learn More About Tamara

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

30 years we have always had cats or kittens . But that also means I have a ton of experience. I also was a vet tech in my younger years so I can handle anything that might come up.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I am a pet person. Give me animal and I'll treat them as they are part of the family. In our house, all pets are considered our children.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have a cat that I go and visit when Mommy and Daddy are gone. He is the quirkiest little guy. He loves to play hide and seek and sometimes he'll jump out to get you and he does this spin around flop over thing. You just have to see it but it just makes you laugh every time

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, we have three senior cats. They have been with us since birth and our oldest just passed away last year and she was 25. They are part of the family. They were all birthed right here in our homes and we love them like our own children

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Be careful when You are looking for somebody that's going to be coming into your home. With something that you love more than the whole wide world, make sure that person's right for you and your baby.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I'll let you know all about me and I try to make you feel comfortable. So you can ask as many questions as you would like. If you would like referrals I can give those too.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure that their areas are all set up like they normally are. So nothing is different and make sure any doors that don't have to be open or are not supposed to be open or closed. That way we have no missing babies where nobody gets stuck any place. I also make sure that they don't go out the front door with me if they are runners sometimes you just have to play the kitty game haha.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Absolutely. I'm retired my schedule is open 7 days a week. 365 days a year. Always willing to accommodate any request.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I'm open to anything. Anything that they like I can use to make them more comfortable to get to know me better

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I make sure they know that I am in their house or in their area. If they would like to come out and talk to me I don't push them. If they come out I don't approach them unless they approached me. But I will talk to them. Maybe try to give them a treat and make them a little more comfortable

Tamara is amazing. She has taken care of our two cats for the last 2 years. We would not have anybody else in our home or around our babies except for her. One of our cats is a kitten and learning and she has helped us greatly with the new baby. Our other senior cat is a diabetic and she has taken care of all of his needs from point one. We found out that he is a diabetic. She has come showing us how to give injections and she's always there if we have questions. My husband is extremely picky about who we have and our home and we trust her immensely. We were on vacation one time. And had a water leak in our home. By the time we got back she had kept our baby safe. The whole time had made sure that the water leak had been turned off. Had found somebody to repair it. Got it approved and you could never tell that her home had had a problem while we were gone. Everything was perfect. And our kitty kids were absolutely wonderful and happy. If you used Tamara, you will have one dependable, loving, trustworthy person or a pet grandma as she likes to say LOL

Tamara is our regular sitter and has been our regular sitter for 6 years now. We have one cat that has asthma and she is willing to give all the breathing treatments and everything Alfredo needs and he's always a pain about getting them. She does wonderful. We would not have another sitter in our house. We can trust our house and all five of our cats with her which are all senior cats that have medical problems from being diabetic to asthma to urinary tract problems. She takes care of it all. And treats all of my pets as if you were her own children. If you get her as a sitter, you are one lucky person. She will always be there for you and make you part of her family.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Spring cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
