In my free time, I love to volunteer at the Davis County Animal Shelter socializing with the kitties.
Throughout my life I have had anywhere from one to seven cats at any given time... To say that I am a cat person would be an understatement. These furry friends have greatly shaped who I am. My first childhood friends were a 27 lb black cat named Grizzly Bear and a tiny stuffed tiger named Thor. Now I have a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and am hoping to use it to help cats both big and small.
In my free time, I love to volunteer at the Davis County Animal Shelter socializing with the kitties.
Throughout my life I have had anywhere from one to seven cats at any given time. Therefore I am extremely comfortable with all cat personality types and temperaments and situations. Also I am confident in my ability to administer medication and first aid to felines in a safe and effective manor.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about cats is that they can be so particular about who they tolerate. It can take time and real effort on the human’s part to get a cat to trust them. So when they do come around and start liking you, it is extremely rewarding. I would love the opportunity to become friends with your cats!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been pet sitting for over a decade for family and friends. I joined Meowtel in March of 2025
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I currently have two cats, a 10 year old Nebelung named Leon. I also have a Russian blue/munchkin named Bilbo who is about a year old.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
With new clients I will reach out shortly after you book me for a quick consultation. There you can show me around your home and where the cat stuff is. Typically around 15 minutes.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Both me and my wife’s family live in the salt lake valley, so I am typically around and available around holidays
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is this long pink squid that I bought my cat. Pink is my favorite color and the giant squid is third favorite animal. But that isn’t my cats favorite toy, or the toy that I think is BEST. In my opinion, a strong two foot stick (wrapped in tape for comfort), with about four feet of paracord tied and taped to the end is the best toy. The length gives a lot of play potential while being easy to use anywhere. With the paracord end you can tie a knot and attach any toy or you can just use the rope with no knot. Its endless versatility keeps my very active cat and me plenty busy! I don’t love the laser pointer because it lacks an actually attack sequence, but it’s a great way to gain a cats interest in playing from afar.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Anxious and timid cats are my favorite. The first thing to keep in mind when dealing with these cats, and just cats in general, is to not take things personally. Sitting on the floor with some treats around their hiding spot while pretending to not pay attention to them is a great way to build trust. When they associate positive experiences with your presence, a bond can begin to form.

Maryann was great with my 2 kitties. One of my cats (Iris) is a tripod. What impressed me most was when Maryann reported back to me, "Iris let me pet her and showed me what side of her head she needs help scratching sometimes". That was so sweet. I would use Maryann again in a heartbeat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Salt Lake City cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to write one about Maryann since am so happy to have found her and I hope this review might help somebody else feel confident in booking her! It is a vulnerable thing to let someone new into your home and trust them with taking good care of your pets, so I am so happy to have found someone so dependable. She is extremely thoughtful, trustworthy, and an excellent communicator. Also, all three of my cats immediately liked her when we first met which was awesome. Mason took much such marvelous care of our active and demanding cat. They were thorough, thoughtful, kind, and caring. Mason took excellent care of my three cats. One of my cats is twenty years old and has kidney disease so she’s on several medications twice a day and Mason did a great job making sure she got all her meds according to schedule. They were really good about texting me updates to let me know the kitties were all doing good. Mason loves cats and it was very apparent in the way they cared for my cats, they took the time to play with them and give them all the attention so they wouldn’t be lonely. They were very thoughtful in making sure my home didn’t look empty while we were out of town, opening and closing blinds every day, bringing in mail, shoveling snow, etc. Overall they’re a really great cat sitter and I’d happily have them watch my fur babies anytime.
