What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been working in the animal care field for over 5 years, with much of my recent experience focused specifically on feline care. During that time I’ve cared for cats in both professional boarding environments and through personal pet sitting. I’m comfortable caring for cats of all personalities and needs, including shy or anxious cats, seniors, and those who require extra patience or attention. I also have experience administering oral medications and injections when needed. Cats all have their own unique personalities, and I truly enjoy taking the time to understand what makes each one feel safe, comfortable, and happy while their owners are away.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I have two cats of my own named Kiwi and Clementine, and I feel very lucky to be their cat mom! Living with cats every day has given me a deep appreciation for their unique personalities and needs, and it’s one of the reasons I truly enjoy caring for other people’s cats as well.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When caring for timid or anxious cats, I always move slowly and let them set the pace. I focus on creating a calm environment and making sure they don’t feel threatened. I’ll often sit low to the ground, avoid direct eye contact, and give them space so they can approach me when they feel comfortable. If they seem curious, I may offer a hand to sniff or a treat to help build positive associations. Some cats warm up quickly while others take more time, and I’m always happy to be patient and work at whatever pace helps them feel safe and secure!

Alina was the perfect sitter for my crew! She sent regular updates, and took her time getting to know my kitties during her overnight stays. One of my cats requires daily medication, and Alina was able to make her comfortable enough to medicate her daily. She took really great care of my home during her stay. My cat clearly loves her visits (which I can confirm by loud purrs audible on the videos Alina shares each time she stops by) and it’s it goes a long way to give me peace of mind when I’m out of town and away from my kitty! Alina took excellent care of our four cats while we were out of town. When we came back, they were relaxed and happy (but not too happy!). The deduction in a star is just due to some communication issues, but we have already resolved it so I don't anticipate there being any other worries. We look forward to her watching them again for an upcoming trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Reston cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
