What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy meeting new cats and their owners, and seeing relief on the owners face during a meet & greet when they realize I am a trustworthy sitter and many times their cats are friendly with me at that very first meeting which puts their mind at ease! I enjoy allowing cat parents to feel relaxed while away and not worried about their cats.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Well first schedule a meet & greet for me to visit the home, meet the cat parents, and meet the cats. I learn about all the details and nuances of feeding & watering, litterbox maintenance, medication administration, and treat preferences. I also like to learn where the cat’s safe spaces are in the home in case they are hiding when I arrive for care. I enjoy learning about the cats’ favorite toys, any special games they like to play, and any other little quirks that will help me provide the best care possible. During the visit I take TONS of photos and write detailed summaries of what we did during the visit and also how kitty is feeling and acting, as well as any observations about changes in food or litterbox behaviors.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

These are my favorite cats to care for. I take a very personalized approach and I work slowly and carefully to gain the cat’s trust without spooking them, which can be hard to recover from. I let them sniff me, I do not react to hisses or growls and instead speak calmly and sweetly and slowly move away so that the cats don’t feel cornered or threatened. I try various methods to gain their trust, including sitting quietly in the same room at a safe distance, giving treats right as I arrive, or even pretending to leave (but staying quietly by the door) to encourage the most shy kitties to come out and realize that I am not a threat. I always follow the cat’s body language as my guide.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
