My name is Tessa and I have two cats and regularly use cat sitting services to care for them so I know first hand how important high trustworthy cat care is. I worked at Seattle Meowtropolitan (cat cafe in Wallingord) through college and now I am the operations director at a local nonprofit. I have owned cats my entire life and truly adore them. While caring for your cats, my priorities are safety, communication, and trust. I have experience with all types of cats, including barn and feral cats. I promise to follow instructions closely, send regular updates, and treat your cats and home as if they were my own.

Learn More About Tessa

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I appreciate how individual cats can be. They take time to build trust, which makes it especially rewarding when they choose to trust you. While working at a cat cafe, I saw timid and unsocial cats grow into friendly companions, and even the hissy, “mean” ones learn to trust people and other cats. That experience stayed with me. I believe every cat, regardless of temperament, deserves patience, love, and thoughtful care. Two of my own cats have medical needs, one with FLUTD and one with cystitis, and both with FORLs. Because of this, I am very attentive to stress levels, comfort, and early warning signs of urinary issues or blockages. I am experienced with medications, including gabapentin capsules and arthritis injections, and I am comfortable administering whatever your cat needs to stay healthy and relaxed.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

A meet and greet, or at minimum a video call, is very helpful for understanding your cats’ routines and needs. During our conversation, I will create a checklist so I don’t miss any details while caring for them. I will ask questions as they come up, and I encourage you to do the same. Helpful things for me to know in advance include feeding schedule and habits, medication schedule, where food is stored, litter box routine, location of cleaning supplies, personality quirks, words or phrases they respond to, favorite toys, petting or brushing preferences, and favorite hiding spots. The more information you share, the better I can keep your cats comfortable, happy, and stress free while you’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Both of my cats are indoor only and skilled escape artists, so I am very mindful about doors and entryways. I stay alert coming and going to make sure your cats remain safe inside where they belong. I also take your home’s security seriously and will care for it with the same attention and respect I would want for my own.

Tessa did such a great job taking care of my cat while I was away. My cat gets anxious when I’m gone but Tessa made sure to make him feel as comfortable as possible. Very reliable, communicative, and sweet to my cat!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Seattle cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
