Then followed empty nest, a bittersweet yet full heart, and more freedom to do what I love most. First, the kids flew off to college, then one-by-one, our beloved pets crossed the rainbow bridge. What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been a cat sitter for friends and family for 40 years and this last year with another platform, doing overnight cat & housesits. I have experience with many cats ranging in age from 1 to 18 years old. I’ve given love to so many different personalities and breeds, including Persian, Himalayan, Bengal, domestic short and long hair and soon to be two Cornish Rex sisters!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love playing with the young ones, cuddling with the cuddlers and resting with the seniors! Being a bright spot in their day melts my heart! Especially when they are anxious having their normal routine and human(s) gone.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I’ve had so many favorites and every time I do another one it becomes my favorite! Recently, I was taking care of two 4 year olds and one of them, Cupcake, would do a happy dance every time I looked at her and then she’d get the zoomies. I think that was one of my favorites. But then I also really loved 18-year-old Miss Lucy who just wanted me to lay down on the couch even if it’s only for five minutes so she could put her arm around my heart laying on top of me purring. And of course, there’s Marlow who would say “hi” back to me every time I said “hi” and we would go back-and-forth like that at least 20 times! There’s just so many I don’t think I can pick just one! 😻

Christi took care of my shy cat everyday for about a week for 20 min drop in sessions. She was very detail oriented and took great care of my cat; I was never worried while I was gone for the holidays. She ensured everything was taken care of with my cat's automated litter box, followed the food instructions perfectly, and even ensured she gave attention and treats to my cat. I was so surprised to see photos of my cat during her visits because he is quite shy around others, but Christi was able to bring him out of his shell! I can tell that Christi truly adores cats and is great at what she does, so I will definitely ask her to watch my cat in the future! Thank you so much!

Christi really is a cat whisperer. She came over and met me and the cats before I left for a trip. The cats were instantly interacting with her. They were so comfortable in her presence that they went back to wrestling and playing with each other (they normally only do that in front of me). She sent updates with lots of pics while I was gone. I swear that my cats were a little disappointed when I arrived home instead of Christi. 10/10 and will definitely hire her again when I leave town. She’s awesome!

Christi has been called the cat whisper because of her ability to calm anxious cats, treating them as if they were her own. She spent countless days house sitting with multiple fur babies and has had so many wonderful experiences. From one year old playful kittens to 18-year-old seniors, she's nurturing reliable and trustworthy. Anyone would be lucky to have her take care of their cats. I highly recommend her!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Diego cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
