My approach to cat sitting is to let your furbaby dictate the pace. I work to earn cats' trust through patience, calmness, toys, and treats (if allowed). Most of my cats are rescues and I've had to earn their trust after they've been rehomed multiple times, giving me plenty of experience... Hello! I was born into a cat family and was taught how to lovingly care for cats leading me to adopt my own cats in college. My many rescue cats have lived long, healthy lives with my oldest cat reaching 21 years!
My approach to cat sitting is to let your furbaby dictate the pace. I work to earn cats' trust through patience, calmness, toys, and treats (if allowed). Most of my cats are rescues and I've had to earn their trust after they've been rehomed multiple times, giving me plenty of experience.
As a cat parent, I make sure my furbabies have quiet spaces to feel safe, stimulation with fresh air (through the screened doors), toys to encourage exercise, fresh food, and a clean litter box.
I have cat sat for Humane Society foster cats, completing their online training. I have administered subcutaneous fluids for kidney disease, liquid and pill antibiotics, and eye drops. I brush my cats, trim their claws regularly, clean their ears. However, my most frequent job is reassuring kitties that they are loved and safe!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been cat sitting for over 20 years for friends and family. I started in high school, for one of my teachers and would watch her very imperious gray long haired Maurice when she was on vacation. I'm known as reliable and practical, having been faced with many cat health problems such as heart attack, kidney failure, abscesses, and dementia.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
The most exciting aspect of cat sitting is meeting your kitties, but my most important job is to give you peace of mind! Thoroughly clarifying and understanding your instructions, communicating with you while you're away, being eagle eyed with doors and windows, and checking for normal cat behaviors.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am local, which means I don't travel for the holidays! Instead I wake up to find which ornaments the cats have decided are now their toys (which is why I only put soft, non toxic ornaments on the bottom feet of the tree).

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Diego cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Miriam was awesome. She is truly a cat person and understood the personalities of each of my 3 cats. She sent me nine photos of them when she did her visit which made me feel so much better about leaving them alone. One of my cats is 20 years old and has to have special amounts of food and she took the time to feed him twice during the visit. Also, this was a last-minute time for me to be away, and she was able to fulfill the time that I needed her to come even though it was a day before. I will definitely be using Miriam. I can if I need her to watch the kitties!
