What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been looking after cats my entire life but this is my first time entering the world of The Professional Cat Sitter. I have, however, looked after the cats of friends and neighbours and as I’ve been asked to do it more than once, it must have gone well.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Aside from getting to spend time with cats, I get satisfaction from doing everything I can to ensure that the cat parents can relax while they are away, knowing that I will look after their pet(s) as if they were my own and follow their instructions to the letter.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I only have one cat now. Her name is Jessica. She’s an ex-feral that appeared in my yard aged about 6 months with her mum and three siblings. She is 17, completely deaf and has the loudest meow I’ve ever heard.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Having your cat cared for at home is a lot less stressful for the cat. Cats don’t like change. Although it will be a stranger coming to look after them, they will be on their own turf. Also, when you return from your trip, they will already be waiting for you at home with open arms.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Ideally, an in person “meet and greet” so the cat parent can show me everything I need to know about caring for their pets. I will take notes and send them over for review before the assignment starts. I’ll check whether there are any special requests - daily photos, FaceTimes, MeowMails - and let them know they will be able to contact me any time to check in.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

By following instructions to the letter and checking everything at least twice before I leave. I am definitely a “belt and braces” kind of girl.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Would depend on the holiday but usually, yes - with the one exception of Christmas as I go back to the UK to spend it with my mum and sister.

What is your favorite cat toy?

A laser pen ! Even my 17 year old cat still goes nuts for a laser pen. We always have an evening zoomie session before bed time.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

100% on their terms. I would try to establish rapport by sitting as low to the ground as I can and making myself seem as small as possible. No direct eye contact. A treat on an outstretched hand (gloved if necessary) and let the cat warm up to me as and when and if THEY want to. And if they don’t, that’s ok. I’ll take care of all their needs, have a chat with them and do my utmost to make them feel that they are safe and don’t need to be afraid of me.

Sara was truly above and beyond. Not only is she a kind person, but she also has a unique ability to connect with and care for cats. I have a very anxious cat who isn’t comfortable around anyone besides me. But the moment Sara walked in and saw him, he relaxed and felt at ease with her. My jaw dropped in shock! I’ve always been nervous about leaving my kitties, but Sara made it possible for me to relax and enjoy my time away. She truly exceeded expectations, sending me plenty of adorable photo updates and even bringing her own toy to play with them! Additionally, one of my cats had a cut on his paw. Sara was fantastic, she made sure to check on him regularly, kept me updated with photos, and monitored how his paw was healing. I can’t express how much that eased my stress during the trip! Sara watched my two cats for about 10 days while I was gone. I couldn’t have asked for a better cat nanny or “Meowy Poppins” as she says 😻. she went above and beyond and even taught me a new way to feed one of my cats who eats too fast that prevented her from throwing up. she thinks of everything and does it before I could even ask. need to plan another trip soon so she can come back and hang with my cats 😻😻

Sara did another great job with watching over my 2 kitties. One of them needs meds 2x a day. This time around, they were being shy and aloof because, you know, cats are moody. 😆 She was able to coax them to be more social. I appreciate her efforts!

Sara is a cat whisperer. Our cats our shy but when Sara comes to take care of them they come right out to play with her. Sara is very detail oriented send communicates very well. She takes great care of the cats, following instructions well and being very proactive about anything that might need to be done. I highly recommend booking Sara if you get the chance.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
