That’s why those who know me call me a cat whis-PURR-er, but for ... Do you have a “mean”, GRUMPY, or “difficult” cat that others deem too shy, “scary” or “aggressive” to deal with or care for? Do vets or pet sitters back off for fear of bites and scratches? No worries! I will treat your emotionally special kitty with love, respect and expertise in making it feel comfortable and safe.
That’s why those who know me call me a cat whis-PURR-er, but for me it’s truly an honor to care for your kitty, no matter what age, size, or state of health. Every cat parent deserves a true cat lover and expert to care for their kitty while they are away.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have two beautiful kitties! One is a mischievous tortie and another a black goddess. Their names are Tierra and Cielo.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I always make sure I close and lock the doors after I come into a home. When I come in I usually open the door just a crack and block it with my body in case a cat is near the entrance or tries to dash out the door. Before I leave I triple check where the cats are to be absolutely sure they don’t follow me out. I also activate the resident’s alarm system if they have one per their instructions. If there are large packages outside the door, I often either lock the kitties in a room with treats so I can freely open the door wide and give myself time to bring the package inside without the cats getting out. I will immediately call 911 and inform the cat parents if there is an emergency and take the cats out in their carriers.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! I’m available on holidays including Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years’ Eve and Day, Fourth of July, Easter, etc.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
The number one rule of paws for me is to let the shy or distressed kitty come introduce himself in his own time and give him space. I’ll come in very quietly and carefully, using a soft voice, wary of my body so as to not startle them with sudden movements or sounds. If he peeks at the stranger in his house, I might greet him in a whisper, and then make my way slowly in another direction so that he doesn’t perceive me as a predator. After finishing up with the cats’ chores I will find a place to simply sit peacefully. More often than not, the kitty will come out of hiding to sniff and investigate. I’ll resist the temptation to try petting him and look at something else. The kitty may sniff me again and I’ll present my finger, hand, and see if he’ll welcome gradual petting.

Maria did a fabulous job, my cat Edgar LOVED her. In addition to doing a great job with the feeding, litter, brushing, etc she was kind and loving to him which is the most important. I appreciate Maria being so flexible with extending the assignment due to a family emergency, I really appreciate her, she definitely provided peace of mind. I will certainly use Maria again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
