What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
When I hire a cat sitter, I first like to get a feel on them as a person. How they interact with me and how they approach the cats can tell a lot. It's important to feel comfortable with someone who is not just taking care of your kitties, but also visiting your home. Then, try and think of things that aren't just the "bare necessities". How you expect your cats to interact with new people, if they like to be cuddled, if they have a favorite toy, if one cat is a glutton and will steal the others food, that sort of thing!
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am typically available for any and all holidays. I have a flexible work schedule and an understanding family.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Slow and steady is the goal. I don't want any cat to be extra stressed, as not only is their favorite person (or people) gone, a stranger has appeared. Offer a hand from a distance, read their cues, and don't force anything. Offer parent-approved treats and give them space. Try to check on them without removing them from their safe space, and make sure their safe space is always available when I'm around. It might take a while but letting them know I won't cross their boundaries will eventually work out. Maybe they'll never want to be cuddled by me but that's okay, as long as they aren't stressed by my appearance in their life.

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
