Cat Sitting in Washington, DC

Hi there! My name is Rose (she/they) and I currently own two spunky, playful, food-motivated cats named Juniper and Mimosa.

I grew up helping take care of my family’s cats and regularly cat sitting for friends, and I currently have a 4-year old boy (Juniper) and a 2-year old girl (Mimosa), both rescues. Each cat had a very different personality, so I love getting to know cats with all different temperaments.

A few years ago, my family fostered a 22 year old cat who was mostly blind, mostly deaf, could hardly walk, had heart problems, brain damage, and thyroid cancer who took medications every day, so needless to say I have a big place in my heart for elderly and special-needs kitties.

I live in Washington, DC and am interested in cat sitting downtown, or especially in the Bloomingdale neighborhood.

I am fully vaccinated, and will happily abide by any additional COVID precautions you would like, including masking, cleaning high-touch surfaces, etc.

When I’m not playing with my cat, I work at the Center for Strategic and International Studies as a Program Manager, and I enjoy practicing aerial arts, reading fantasy novels, and drinking tea!

I can’t wait to cat sit for you, and I promise to send you lots of pictures and videos to update you on your kitties! 💕

Learn More About Rose

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been a Meowtel sitter for about two years. Prior to Meowtel, I regularly looked after my friends’ and family’s cats when they traveled.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

The wide range of personalities of the cats I sit for is my favorite part. I love bonding with such a large variety of kitties!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

During one of my favorite reservations, I was cat sitting for about a week and the cat was very shy around strangers. Every day she’d get a little closer to me, and finally let me pet her on the last couple days. It was very rewarding to gain her trust over that week!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a 3 year-old boy named Juniper, and a 2 year-old girl named Mimosa. Juniper is more reserved and timid but will never turn down an ear scratch, and Mimosa is an unstoppable bundle of energy!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Communication is key! I like to plan meet and greets far in advance, take lots of notes during the meet and greet, send updates when I arrive and when I leave during the reservation, and include lots of pictures as well as a general description of how the cat is doing.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy is my mini hair clips that my cats have claimed as their own.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

First impressions are so important! I never approach a cat that doesn’t want to be approached. Rather, I will build up their trust over time and allow them to approach me on their own terms.

Rose was excellent- lots of communication, by snuggly cat was clearly glued to her and suspicious kitty came out a few times for pictures! she was also very detail oriented in reporting on one of my kitties, who is recovering from an illness.

Rose did an amazing job taking care of my cat Theo! She sent lots of photos and updates on how he was doing during every visit, and she was very quick to respond to any other questions or requests I had during my trip. I would definitely book her again for my next vacation!

As a first-time Meowtel user, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I felt completely at ease leaving my cat, Seamus, in Rose’s care. She kept me updated with regular messages and adorable photos, which made all the difference while I was away. I would absolutely recommend Rose, and I know Seamus would agree!

Rose was perfect for our Raleigh. He’s a singleton, and we worried about him being alone for a week. Rose to the rescue! She learned how he likes to play, and sent us action shots. He fell in love with her! We’ll definitely use Rose again, and Raleigh will be looking forward to it.

Rose took such great care of our boy Fil. We don't travel much so we had a lot of nerves but her awesome updates and prompt responses put us at ease during our trip. And she even fed our little bird feeder for extra entertainment for Fil. So looking forward to working with Rose again. And Fil has a forever friend.

Rose is a really great sitter, we have two very shy cats and Rose was very patience with them getting to know her. She sent us many pictures when she was checking on them so it was great to be able to see them getting food and attention while we were gone

Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

  • More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
  • 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
  • Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
