I'm Alexandria | Cat Sitting in Indianapolis, IN

As a dedicated cat lover and proud owner of four cats, I bring extensive experience in feline care. Having successfully navigated the challenges of a cat diagnosed with wet FIP, I’m well-versed in administering injections and managing specialized health needs. Over the past four years, I’ve fostered for two rescues, caring for a variety of cats and kittens, inclu...

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My first cat I rescued from someone who was rehoming due to not getting along with their cat. His name is Roman and he is a Siamese. My second cat I foster failed and her name is Rhea and she is a tortie. She was pregnant when the rescue got her and she said 4 babies who were all adopted. My third cat is another foster fail. His name is George and he is a long haired tuxedo. He is an FIP warrior/survivor! My fourth cat is another foster fail! He is a tabby named Buddy. He is his parents buddy but nobody else’s because he is very timid lol

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Gatherings lots of information is key! I start with an initial consultation to discuss the cat's needs, routines, and any specific concerns they may have. I gather information about the cat’s health history and temperament to assess their behavior and identify any previous experiences that might affect them. I then review care instructions, including feeding schedules, medication requirements, and any special care needs to ensure consistency. I also emphasize creating a safe and enriching environment with hiding places, scratching posts, and toys. Building trust is crucial, so I encourage patience and gradual interaction to help the cat feel secure. After initial visits, I maintain regular follow-ups to address any changes in behavior or health, ensuring the cat’s needs are continuously met.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I approach timid and anxious cats with patience and understanding. I create a calm environment, allowing them to explore at their own pace. Using gentle interactions, like soft voices and slow movements, helps build trust. I also offer safe spaces, such as cozy hideaways, where they can feel secure. Gradually, I introduce play and treats(lick treats!!) to encourage positive associations, always respecting their boundaries. The goal is to foster a sense of safety and comfort, helping them feel more at ease over time.

Alexandria has definitely found her niche fostering kittens/cats and helping them find their perfect furever homes. This has been especially true of some younger kittens she fostered that were sickly. You would never guess they weren’t her babies. She took great care in making sure all of their individual kitty needs were met and passionately nursed them so That they were all able to be adopted. One of which I am a new mom too! Thank you Alexandria for all your support!

Alexandria is the ideal cat sitter. She is a board member in a cat rescue and you can tell how educated she is in cat behaviors. She takes the time to learn your cat and respects their boundaries and seeks to understand how they would like to do things.

Frequently Asked Questions

Indianapolis cat sitting rates will vary based on the pet sitter's experience and expertise, but the average price for a cat sitter is $30.00. Prices will also depend on how long your cat needs company for, whether that be a drop-in visit or overnight stay in your home. Meowtel sitters offer 20, 45, and 60-minute drop-in visits that allow for fully tailored care for your kitties. Your caregiver may also need to charge a little more if they have to travel far, so we'll match you with the best options which are close by.

Every Meowtel cat sitter has been thoroughly vetted, background-checked, and is insured through Meowtel on eligible reservations via our Meowtel Promise. To ensure total peace of mind while you're away, every Meowtel reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can have full confidence in your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress for your kitties. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend that you book daily visits with your sitter to keep your cats in their routine and to help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each Meowtel cat sitting visit will include the whole 9 yards: feeding, refreshing the water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, as well as any special requests you may have. We know every kitty is different and that's why we offer tailored, in-home services since cats don't do well outside their own homes. Plus, every reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you can meet your sitter before you leave to ensure it will be a purrfect fit.
