Hi, I’m Mikaylee! 🐾 I’m a lifelong cat lover and veterinary technician at a feline-only practice, with over 9 years of experience caring for cats of all ages and personalities. At home, I have four kitties of my own who keep me on my toes, so I know firsthand how special (and particular!) our feline friends can be.

I’m skilled in giving medications—including insulin and subcutaneous fluids—but just as importantly, I understand the little things that make cats feel safe and loved when their people are away. I take a calm, patient approach, letting kitties come to me on their own terms and working at their pace to build trust. Whether your cat needs extra snuggles, special care, or just a friendly presence, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re gone.

Learn More About Mikaylee

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I love most about cat sitting is getting to meet new kitties and discover their unique personalities. Every cat has their own little quirks—some are toy-chasers, some are treat-hunters, and some are professional sunbeam-nappers. I really enjoy figuring out what makes each kitty happiest and earning their trust in the process. Watching them open up and show off who they are is the best part of the job.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

When I’m not caring for other people’s cats, I’m busy spoiling my own kitties! Sabre – My sleek black boy who’s athletic, sweet, and always ready to zoom around the house. Lyra – My sassy tortie queen who runs the household and makes sure everyone knows it. Ollie – My fluffy red youngster (just 3 years old) who’s equal parts goofy and lovable. Doodles – My wise old tortie lady at 20 years young, who’s the heart of the family and still full of spunk. They each have such different personalities, and living with them has given me so much appreciation for how wonderfully unique every kitty can be.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

When it comes to choosing a cat sitter, it’s so important to find someone who really understands your kitty. Some cats are outgoing and curious, while others are shy and cautious—and both deserve patience, respect, and understanding. If your kitty needs medications like pills, insulin, or fluids, it helps to have a sitter who can give them safely and confidently, without adding stress to your cat. At the end of the day, it’s all about trust—making sure you feel confident in your sitter and that your kitty receives the love and care they deserve. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and encourage your sitter to ask questions too! It’s all about finding the right fit so both you and your cat feel comfortable.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always love to learn about each cat’s favorite things—whether that’s a special treat, a toy they can’t resist, or a sprinkle of catnip that makes them extra happy. These little details help me connect with kitties and build trust at their own pace. I also like to know their usual routine, since cats thrive on consistency. The more I can keep their day-to-day life feeling familiar, the more comfortable and relaxed they’ll be while you’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

The safety of your cats and your home is always my top priority. I make sure doors and windows are secure at every visit, and I always double-check that your kitty is safe and accounted for before I leave. During our meet and greet tell me about your cat’s favorite hiding spots so I know exactly where to look before heading out! I also keep a close eye on food and water levels, litter boxes, and any changes in behavior so I can catch concerns early and keep your kitty feeling their best.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy is the wand toy. It’s a wonderful way for cats to burn off energy, practice their natural hunting skills, and stay mentally engaged. I also like that it allows me to keep a comfortable distance, which is especially helpful for cats who may be shy, unsure of me, or a little grumpy at first. Wand toys are a great tool for both exercise and bonding, and they give each kitty the chance to feel confident and playful on their own terms.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

For kitties who are nervous or anxious, I always let them set the pace. I don’t force interaction—instead, I give them space and allow them to come to me when they’re ready. Spending quiet time in the room, offering meals, treats, and gentle company helps build trust little by little. I also keep a close eye on how they’re doing—making sure they’re eating well, using their litter box, and behaving normally—while letting them decide when they want attention. My goal is always to make them feel safe, respected, and cared for in their own way.

Mikaylee loves cats and I trusted her to take good care of mine for a total of 5 1/2 weeks. She came by to feed my cat Abby each morning and stayed for 20 minutes just so she would have some company. I also appreciated her sending me some photos throughout the time which was comforting

Mikaylee was incredible to work with and my kitty was so well taken care of while I was on vacation. Upon meeting Mikaylee, I knew she had the calm, quiet spirit that my kitty needs to feel comfortable around strangers. From the pictures she sent every day, they became fast friends and I cannot express my appreciation for Mikaylee and amazing care she provided.

Mikaylee was great with my elderly cat who has specific and somewhat complicated food needs. She was great about communicating and genuinely cared about my cat, spending extra time playing with her and loving on her while I was gone. I will definitely book Mikaylee again.

Mikaylee is the best! She is professional, kind, and obviously a cat lover! She did a great job with my three cats, who are at both ends of the age spectrum (17 and two kittens). She sent regular pictures and kept us updated and was so reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone!

Mikaylee is great and takes wonderful care of my two babies! My younger kitty even sat on her lap (which she rarely does with anyone except me or my fiancé). Mikaylee has seemed to capture the hearts of my kitties and I will definitely be reaching out to her again for future care needs!

Mikaylee was fantastic with my three cats, as always! She even adjusted for my 17-year-old cat's picky eating while we were gone and really helped me out of a jam. She's the best! Hire her! You'll be so glad you did.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
