I've always been a huge cat lover. I have owned and taken care of cats for most of my life and can't imagine it any other way. Over the years I have cat-sat for neighbors, coworkers, and friends. I also gained valuable experience while volunteering at a cat rescue for a couple years.

I have experience using topical and oral medications for cats. I also have needed to give injections and fluids to my own cats in the past and could offer this on a case-by-... I've always been a huge cat lover. I have owned and taken care of cats for most of my life and can't imagine it any other way. Over the years I have cat-sat for neighbors, coworkers, and friends. I also gained valuable experience while volunteering at a cat rescue for a couple years.

I always enjoy learning about and getting to know each cat's unique purrsonality and their individual likes and dislikes. Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I currently have two cats of my own at home. Alpa is a sweet and outgoing tabby girl and Kodos is a playful and goofy tuxedo boy. I adopted them about a year apart and they quickly grew to be best friends, frequently playing and cuddling together. I feel so lucky that they are a part of my family!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to do a meet and greet before working with a new client. I want to learn more about the cat(s) and their likes and dislikes, and it's also important for me to see their environment and where the litter boxes, food dishes, water bowls, and any other important cat items are kept. This is also a good time to go over any additional questions or concerns, I want to do everything I can to help you and your cat(s) feel comfortable while you need to be apart!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have owned and worked with shy cats and am quite partial to them. I feel it is always an honor when a shy cat decides I am worthy of their affection :) Cats can often be unsettled by change, including their human going away for a few days. It can be a scary and unpredictable time for them! I try my best to be a calming and reassuring presence, not making loud noises or sudden movements that could spook them. Some shy cats may be enticed by a treat or toy, but others would rather hunker down. I will offer my glasses or hand for a shy cat to sniff and I will talk to them so they get used to the sound of my voice, but I won't force any interactions if they need space and want to be left alone.

Melissa did a great job for me and my cats. She was organized and professional, she supplied photos and videos, and demonstrates genuine care, even informing me about local power outages and offering to go back to my house. As much as I hate leaving my cats for extended periods I would use Melissa's services again in the future to ease that stress when traveling.

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
