What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

The most common reservation is one check-in per day, and while this is more than sufficient for most cats, that also means that the cat may be alone in the home for the other 23 hours of the day. Acknowledging this, I think it’s important to make sure that not only are the cat’s physical and safety needs being met, but also their social, play, and emotional needs as well. Anyone can come over and scoop litter and refill food bowls, but a really good sitter will also ensure the cat is getting adequate socialization throughout the reservation.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

A meet and greet is a must for many reasons, including to get any details about entering/exiting the home safely and where the parent keeps everything the cat might need during the stay. I also like to know the cat parents’ communication preferences ahead of time and any quirks or preferences I should know about the cat.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have an anxious girl! The best approach is to let them lead the interaction. Forcing a timid cat out of hiding or forcing a social interaction that they are not comfortable with is not helpful or productive, to the cat or the sitter. Staying calm, quiet, and allowing the cat to approach me at their own pace will ultimately lead to more trust and a more positive experience for both parties.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
