Cat Sitting in Philadelphia, PA

Looking for a cat sitter to watch your fur babies? Well, look no further!

I was lucky enough to grow up with a variety of cats with all different personalities, and I love getting to know cats as the individuals that you know they are! I have experience working as an animal caretaker in a shelter environment caring for kittens and adult cats. Working at a shelter made me better at cat sitting for my friends and family members, and I’m excited to use Meowtel to share my ability to provide a safe and cozy cat sitting experience while you’re away.

I am a proud parent to Quatro who is an utterly pampered TNR turned house cat. We moved to Philadelphia when I decided to pursue a graduate degree in Dance Studies at Temple University, and I fell in love with this city. Outside of my adventures in cat sitting, I also work in an archive as an intern with the goal of becoming an archivist.

I’m happy to provide my cat sitting services throughout the Philadelphia area! I frequently serve clients in the Art Museum, Fairmount, Rittenhouse, Center City, Northern Liberties, and Point Breeze areas. If you need a cat sitter and live outside these neighborhoods, please don’t hesitate to reach out to see if I can travel to care for your cats!

The health and safety of my clients and their kitties are of the utmost importance to me. Upon request, I am ready to wear a mask at all times when caring for your kitties, and upon entering your home, I will always wash my hands before interacting with your cats as well as sanitizing and/or removing my shoes at the door to ensure the health and safety of your household.

Learn More About Abigail

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting with Meowtel since August of 2022!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Getting to know each cat and their unique personality! I especially love learning each cat’s play style!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

How can one choose? I have many favorites; if I have to choose, it would be a reservation where I convinced a particularly shy kitty that we could be friends! Now when I visit her, she doesn’t hide anymore. We have a very particular routine where she will see me come in to her home, she will run to a particular rug, she flops to show her belly, and she lets me give her belly and chin scratches hello!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Quatro! He is an orange and white long hair sweetie! We are the best of buds. His favorite things are brushes, ribbons, and snuggles.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Typically, I listen to what they’re already doing and encourage them to keep figuring out what works for them and their new cat. Each cat is unique and learning to support your cat’s needs takes time, and I always try to answer questions as they arise.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I have a checklist in my head that I use for myself and the cats. Are we safe? If there’s objects they’ve knocked on the floor that could harm them, I clean that up. If they are door darters, I make sure to prevent them coming near the door when I enter and exit. Do we have everything we need? This is our basics of do we have food, clean water, and a clean litter box. Can we relax together? This looks different for each cat. I try to make sure each cat relaxes on my visits whether that’s them playing and getting snuggles/ scratches, or if they’re very shy, I let them know I’m there but don’t invade their safe spaces. Instead, I’ll leave treats and toys out for them to use once I leave.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am available for most every holiday except for Christmas!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

So much patience and understanding! People are so big and can be so scary (we’re giants in comparison to them). If your cat is particularly shy, I make sure to remove my shoes not just to reduce the amount of noise I make but to also give them a chance to smell me without me having to be close to them. Letting an anxious kitty approach on their own terms is something I learned working with small dogs. Whether they come over to sniff me or grab a treat, I let them investigate without interfering. Sometimes kitties don’t want to leave their hiding spaces and that’s a decision I support. If a scared or anxious cat needs medication, I try to deliver it in the least stressful way possible and then shower them with treats and praise.

My first time using a pet sitter I was expectedly nervous. Abigail went above and beyond and I couldn’t be happier. She ensured I was comfortable leaving my two cats in her care before the stay started. Not only was I sent updates on what she did, I was included pictures of them playing and more. It brought a smile to my face and truly eased all my worries. I could tell my babies were happier when I came back using her and were more comfortable. I will use Abigail as long as I’m in philly!

Abigail is a literal life saver. I was stranded out of state during a major snowstorm, she was in the middle of the storm and still managed to calm my major anxiety about leaving my fur babies alone. Her communication is above and beyond, she truly cares about her clients, and she has seriously amazing intuition. She treats my cats as if they were her own, braving the elements to get to them as soon as she could. When she could have easily delayed or canceled a visit, she shoveled out her car early in the morning to check on my two divas. I couldn't be more grateful.

Abbey hit it out of the park once again!! She was so accommodating of us and our kitties while we were on our international trip, providing full updates 2x a day, along with photos and videos. Our cats decided to test her skills on the last few days of our vacation, and Abbey took it all in stride. I cannot recommend her enough, from her professionalism and caring conduct to her creative stories about their days!

Abigail is incredible, our favorite sitter hands down and truly a miracle worker with our spicy kitty who's been having a lot of medical struggles lately. She is able to safely medicate her and teach us tricks we didn't know. Our cat loves her and we use her whenever we need someone!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Philadelphia cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
