Of course Iāll handle feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, and home checks, but I also make sure your cat gets the kind of interaction they enjoy ā whether thatās playtime, gentle brushing, treats, or simply quiet companionship. For shy cats, Iām patient and respectful. For social cats, Iām ready to be their new best friend.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to discover each catās unique personality. Cats are incredibly expressive once you learn their language. Some are playful and curious, some are calm observers, and others take a little time before deciding youāre worthy of their attention. I love that moment when a shy cat finally comes over for a sniff or when a playful one brings out their favorite toy. It feels like earning their trust, and thatās always rewarding. Every visit feels a little different because every cat has their own quirks, routines, and ways of showing affection.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Look for someone who truly understands cat behavior and body language. Cats communicate a lot through subtle cues, and a good sitter can quickly pick up on their patterns, moods, and comfort levels. You also want someone with calm, positive energy because cats are very intuitive and can pick up on that right away. A great sitter doesnāt just come in to refill food and clean the litter boxāthey take the time to observe, connect with your cat, and make sure they feel safe and comfortable while youāre away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When caring for shy or anxious cats, patience and calm energy are key. I move slowly, keep noise to a minimum, and give them plenty of space so they can come out and observe me on their own terms. I also recommend that owners leave a worn t-shirt or something with their scent in their catās favorite sleeping spot, which can help them feel more secure while theyāre away. Iāll often sit quietly nearby, offer treats if theyāre comfortable, and let them approach when theyāre ready. The goal is to create a calm environment where they feel safe enough to be curious and gradually build trust.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
