Update November 2025: If you have booked me before and I don't have any availability on my calendar, please send me an inquiry via direct message just to make sure I am not available :)

Why, hello ! My name is Riley (they/them pronouns) and I have always been a cat person. Truly. Sure, dogs are great and all and I grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, cockatiels, turtles, snakes, etc... But cats ? There is something so much more rewarding when you earn the trust and respect of a cat. They are nature's "perfect" predator.

Cats have been a part of my life since childhood. I was in 4H cat for four years and the bond I shared with my show cat, Shimmer (a LH calico), was immutable. One of my favorite childhood cats (Pork Chop) had asthma and one eye and I shared the responsibility of administering her daily oral steroid pill as well as her inhaler. It wasn't until I started petsitting in 2011 that I gained even more experience; from delivering subcutaneous fluids to cleaning and dressing a degloving tail wound before transporting to the emergency vet. I have seen and handled plenty in my almost two decades of petsitting.

There isn't much that phases me (I also work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a hospital in a Cancer & Blood Disorders Unit). I know that cats are, well.. cats. And as such, they all have unique personalities and needs. My partner and I have three of our own cats and we frequently foster cats and kittens through Seattle Humane Society (two of our cats are foster fails, if that says anything about us). Regardless of how embarrassed you might be about a particular quirk your cat might have, rest assured that this is a judge-free zone and I will gladly accommodate any special/unique requests you might have to ensure your furry friend won't miss you at all during your upcoming adventure ;)

Learn More About Riley

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I do ! I now have three cats. Binx was born in October of 2023 and is a black, medium-haired little weirdo. She is an extremely picky eater (seriously.. I usually just tell the cat-sitter not to worry if she sticks her nose up at a meal). Crash, who was born in June 2024, is a lanky orange tabby who just LOVES his humans. He is quite food motivated and very much looks forward to "window time" and supervised/fenced outdoor enrichment time. Crash was actually a foster fail, but we couldn't be happier with our decision to keep him. In September 2025, my partner and I foster failed again, adding a third feline (another brown tabby born in June 2025) to the menagerie. D'Artagnan (Dart) was actually chosen by Crash and surprisingly tolerated by Binx, so adopting him really wasn't our choice.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

The first step to ensuring the safety and security of the cats and home while cat sitting is asking questions and becoming familiar with the routine. As a mildly neurotic cat caregiver myself, I am hyper aware of where my cats are when I am opening and closing doors/windows (especially doors/windows that lead to the great outdoors). You don't need to ask me twice to lock the house up at night. I will take care of your cat(s) and your space as I would take care of my own: with the utmost conscientiousness and care.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Timid or anxious cats require quite a bit more patience and attentiveness than more desensitized felines. I am well-versed in slow/soft approaches, making myself smaller and less intimidating (which can be difficult for someone as tall as me), high value treat encouragement, play redirection/distraction, and just plain old patience/time. As a cat person, I understand that some cats have bigger trust issues than others. I take no offense when a cat wants absolutely nothing to do with me right off the bat (in fact, that can usually be expected). Good things take time and that's why any attention/affection from a cat is so much more rewarding than that from a dog.

Riley is seriously the best!! I've got four cats with different meds, foods, and behavioral challenges so I was super anxious to leave them with a stranger. But Riley handled it all so easily and was super understanding of their quirks (and kept us updated with messages and photos from each visit) They even managed to befriend my shy boy who hides from everyone 🥲 Tldr; I think my cats like Riley better than me. Don't hesitate to book with them!

Thank you so much, Courtney ! Honestly, your motley crew and all of their quirks have wormed their way into my heart (especially shy guy Quentin). As a neurodivergent myself, I am no stranger to quirks. Until next time !

our senior kitty has CKD and Riley was one of the only care givers we found that was experienced with giving sub-cutaneous fluids. It was such a relief to find her! Our kitty was in great hands and got everything he needed on time and with care :) Will call upon Riley again next time we are out of town!

Gandalf is such a champ when it comes to receiving his fluids. I would be more than happy to care for him (and/or your other two goofballs, Poki and Pretzel, my inquisitive supervisors) in a heartbeat :)

Riley did an amazing job taking care of my cat while I was out of town for my birthday trip! I received thoughtful updates after every visit, each with adorable photos that always made me smile. It was clear from the pictures that my cat was becoming more and more comfortable with Riley as the days went by, which was incredibly reassuring. Riley went above and beyond by keeping up with the litter box and even taking out my trash on the last day. When I returned home, my cat looked relaxed, comfortable, and content, and I could tell he had been well cared for. I would definitely request Riley again whenever I need someone trustworthy and kind to look after my cat. Highly recommend!

Riley was great! I really appreciated the detailed and thoughtful updates they shared after every visit with my two cats - I could tell my kitties were well cared for and happy when I got home. Riley was super communicative from the meet and greet to the visits, and I'm looking forward to booking with them again next time I'm out of town.

Thank you, Anna ! Luna and Maya are the sweetest little nuggets. I wish I'd had more time with them, as they were both ravenous for human touch (well, Maya needed a full belly first ;)). Until next time !

Riley was very easy to communicate with. During each visit she sent us several pics and we loved that. Our cat is shy and Riley got him to play!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Seattle cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
