I'm Kandice and I've been in the veterinary field for 10+ years, an experienced veterinary assistant with emergency care and general practice, as well as specialty training. I am an animal lover and an avid cat person. I have been pet sitting independently for 8+ years and love every minute of it! Every pet is different and has their different routines, and I am here to help with anything your cat may need.
With a special needs cat of my own, I am happy to monitor your cat's daily lifestyle as far as mobility, special needs/diet, medication administration,or even diabetic care and monitoring.

Learn More About Kandice

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I am an experienced veterinary assistant and have been in the field for over 10 years now. I have been pet sitting for about 8 years, and have experience with all kinds of personalities of cats (and dogs), but creating a calm environment is key to a good relationship with your pet.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know each cat individually. Just like humans, every animal is different and has different needs or likes/dislikes. Once I build that relationship with your cat and they grow to trust me, it is the best feeling in the world to me:)

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have a few! But my most favorite thing in the world is when a grumpy cat let's me pet or love on them 🥰

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have one cat who's name is Princess Isadora Rose, and she is a 3-legged Himalayan mix who gets whatever she wants!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Cats know cat people!! Most cats have good instincts on people and that is a good indication on what kind of person/sitter they are.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Meet and greet at first, meeting the cat and learning their daily lifestyle and routines. Keeping a calm environment to not scare the cat or try to have too "big" of a personality at first, letting them know I'm a safe space..and of course lots of cookies and churu if owners allow.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety and security is my #1 priority for not only myself but for the pets as well. Nobody likes to feel unsafe, so ensuring an environment that is protected for everyone is very important. I give the cats their space and they can come around me as they want to, we have snuggle sessions but if they are tired of me I don't force them to be where they don't want to be. As a guest in their house, I will respect them and their rules/wishes.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy is either bouncy balls or a "wand" with an attachment at the end such as felt or a toy. I love these because it gives the opportunity to bond with the cat while interacting and still having a fun playtime for everyone.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Some cats can take a while to warm up to a new person, so I like to be in their presence and let them know that I'm available or around if they are interested. I'll usually have some snacks or treats to offer if they want some, but I try to give them their space, talk sweet to them, and let them know that I'm not a scary person.

Kandice was so amazing and communicative when watching our two kitties. Sending regular updates and pictures. Telling us how much she loved our girls. Spending time just hanging out with them. She took care of our litter boxes, including a Litter Robot 4 that she was very comfortable with. As well as our automatic feeders. I never worried about our kitties while we were on vacation and we came home to happy healthy kitties.

Kandice did an excellent job taking care of our kitty. We were really impressed with how she checked on everything every day to make sure Millie’s needs were all met. Water, food and litter were kept well supplied. She did a perfect job of keeping us up to date while she was there and sending really cute photos. We loved how she gave Millie time to warm up to her and was then able to figure out what her playing style was. All in all it was a great experience. It eased the anxiety we had leaving Millie home. We will definitely be choosing Kandice again!

kandice is a caring and thoughtful cat sitter. She worked well with my super picky cats and with her great communication we were able to ensure they ate and got their needed daily supplements even if it meant a little trickery! She sent lots of pics reassuring me that my kitties were doing well. thank you Kandice I know I can be a handful but you helped me have a great vacation! 😻

My cat Phoebe was very relaxed and showed no neediness symptoms after Kandice cared for her for 4 days of my absence. The photos that Kandice shared each day I was gone captured Phoebe in her recognizably comfortable everyday poses. Phoebe and I both love how excellently she took care of Phoebe while I was gone. Kandice was also very tidy in my home with feeding and litter box activities.

Kandice was great at communicating how the kitties were doing. Our kitty had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and she took on his care like he was her own. Very experienced and caring

It’s always stressful for me to leave my two cats — one is older and toothless and needs medication. The other is easily bored and restless. I had such a great experience with Kandice. She was positive, communicative and took great care of both cats while I was away over the holidays. I definitely recommend Kandice and will book her again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Seattle cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
