Veterinarian And Loving Cat Sitter

I'm Emil

Cat Sitting in Denver, CO

Hi, I'm Emil — a reliable, experienced cat sitter, a veterinarian, and a proud pet parent myself. I'm based in the RiNo neighborhood in Denver and happy to serve the surrounding areas. I know how important it is to have someone you can trust to care for your cat while you're away, and I want you to be able to enjoy your time knowing your family member is in great hands.
While I'm not acting as your cat's veterinarian during these visits, my professional background means I'm comfortable around cats of all personalities, ages, and health needs — from kittens full of energy to seniors on daily medications. I've administered oral meds, managed special diets, and monitored cats with chronic conditions, so nothing catches me off guard. If something seems off with your cat's behavior, appetite, or energy level, I know what to look for and when it's worth flagging.
I take a patient, low-pressure approach, giving your cat space to adjust to me on their own terms...

I take a patient, low-pressure approach, giving your cat space to adjust to me on their own terms. Whether they love interactive play sessions, quiet companionship on the couch, or simply keeping their routine consistent while you're gone, I'm happy to meet them where they are. Some cats greet me at the door by day two. Others take a little longer to warm up, and that's perfectly okay — I never rush the process.
Every visit follows a structured routine — meds first if needed, then food, water, and litter, finishing with enrichment and quality time. Even if parts of your setup are automated, I still check everything personally. I want to make sure nothing gets missed and your cat is getting the hands-on attention they deserve. I also do a safety sweep each visit to make sure windows, doors, and your home are secure before I leave.
Communication is important to me, and I tailor it to what works best for you. Some clients want detailed updates, photos, and videos after every visit. Others just want a quick picture and to know their cat is happy and healthy — either way, you'll never be left wondering. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease while you're away, whether it's a weekend trip or an extended vacation.
I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin surrounded by animals, so caring for them has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. At home now, I have a tortie named Karma and two dogs — Ghibli and Hops — who've all taught me a lot about reading animals and adapting to different personalities. Every animal communicates differently, and I love learning what makes each one tick.
I treat every cat as if they were my own and do everything I can to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. If you're looking for a sitter who genuinely loves what they do and brings a little extra peace of mind, I'd love to meet you and your cat.

Learn More About Emil

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been pet sitting for many years and have cared for cats with all different personalities, ages, and needs. From playful kittens to shy or senior cats, I enjoy getting to know each one and making sure they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I love taking the time to build trust at their pace and treat every cat with the same care and attention I give my own.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Earning a cat's trust. Dogs love you immediately — cats make you work for it, and that moment when a shy cat finally curls up next to you is the best feeling. But I also do it for the people — knowing your family member is getting the attention and care they need when you can't be there. I want everyone to be able to enjoy their time away from home.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I sat for a cat with allergies who needed daily oral meds. She'd roll onto her back in my arms and let me give them to her like it was our little routine. That kind of trust is what makes cat sitting so rewarding.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a cat named Karma, a tortie who is an absolute goof and keeps me happy and on my toes. She never lets me forget that every cat has their own personality, and living with her has taught me a lot about patience, humor, and understanding what cats need to feel safe and loved.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

If you’re looking to hire a cat sitter, I always recommend choosing someone who understands that cats need time to warm up and that building trust is key. Look for someone who is patient, observant, and willing to respect your cat’s routine and boundaries. It’s also helpful to choose a sitter who communicates well and will keep you updated while you’re away. If your cat has medical needs or special care instructions, make sure the sitter is comfortable handling those. Most importantly, trust your instincts — you should feel confident that your sitter will treat your cat with the same care you would.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I start with a meet-and-greet so the cat can see me in their space. I ask about routines, hiding spots, food preferences, and any medical needs. I take detailed notes and tailor communication to your style — some owners want everything documented, others just want a quick picture and to know their cat is doing great.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I do a quick safety check each visit — windows, doors, anything a curious cat could get into. I follow a detailed routine: start with meds if needed, check food, water, and litter, then end with enrichment — even if all of those things are automated. I keep doors locked, follow your entry instructions exactly, and always confirm the cat is safe and accounted for before I leave.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I know holidays are when pet parents need the most help. I try to keep my schedule flexible around major holidays — just book early so I can hold your spot.

What is your favorite cat toy?

A simple feather wand. Nothing fancy. Cats go absolutely wild for it, and it's the fastest way to get even a shy cat engaged and playing. Interactive toys beat passive ones every time.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Patience. I let them set the pace — no chasing, no forcing interaction. I'll sit quietly nearby, talk softly, and let curiosity do the work. I always send pictures so owners stay informed and feel at ease. With my vet background, I also know when anxiety might signal something medical that needs attention.

This month

Emil is a genuinely caring individual who does his very best at every turn. Having booked Emil to watch after my cat for 10 days while I was in Europe, it turned out I needed to book my cat a vet appointment for an ear infection to be seen asap. Emil really stepped up and took my cat to the vet, even administering medications while I was away. You will be so glad you chose Emil to check in on your cat too!

Emil is absolutely amazing. I had an unexpected issue come up with accessing my building while I was out of town and unavailable, and instead of just leaving, he went out of his way to problem-solve and make sure Pip was still taken care of. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he genuinely cares and will go above and beyond for my animal. I would trust him with my cat any time and can’t recommend him enough!!

Emil took such amazing care of our senior cat during the holiday. She was so happy and even snuggled up to him, and she also ate a lot of her food (which is sometimes a problem). He followed our instructions to a tee and was super friendly!! Will most definitely use him again, we knew our cutie was safe with him

Emil was fantastic! I have a bit of a shy, timid cat but she opened up to him right away. He was very attentive, caring, and provided me with detailed updates throughout his time caring for my cat, Pip. I will definitely reach out to him in future to look after her while I'm away!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
