I have been volunteering with animals for eleven years and I spent three years working in a non-profit cat shelter. I am currently working as a vet technician. I was a behavior counseling lead at my previous job and possess a lot of cat behavior knowledge. I love all animals but cats hold a special place in my heart. I have a couple of regular clients that I cat sit for, too. I am able to comfortably medicate cats, if needed... I know how to perform SQ (subcutaneous) fluids, give subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, administer oral meds (liquid or pill), and apply transdermal medications. I live in the Rogers Park area and am able to accept clients who live in that area but I am also able to accommodate visits to clients in Evanston, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, West Ridge, Old Irving Park, Ravenswood, Logan Square, Roscoe Village. I work full time the other days but if I have a cat sitting job, I am always able to visit before and after work so that is not an issue! I look forward to meeting some new kitty cats!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I started cat sitting in 2018 and have never stopped since! I’ve met cats of all kinds through my former job at a cat shelter and through my current job as a vet tech and as a long term animal shelter volunteer (10 years strong). I did a lot of cat behavioral counseling when I was working at the cat shelter and I use a lot of that knowledge frequently with the cats that I watch. For example, I know techniques on how to get a shy cat to become more comfortable with unfamiliar people, which has helped with some shy cats I’ve watched before in the past.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love meeting new cats and getting to experience all sorts of cat personalities! I think cats can be pretty funny sometimes without even trying and it makes me happy. Also, watching a shy cat become comfortable with me after a couple of visits is such a lovely feeling and it never gets old for me!

What is your favorite cat toy?

A feather wand toy because they’re so versatile! Some cats prefer prey that mimic rodents (you can drag the feather on the ground) and other cats prefer prey that fly (wave the feather around like a bird)

Sonia was a sweetheart and obviously loved my girl Luna! She was very kind & responsive and took good care of her. Unfortunately I did not remind her to keep Luna's medicine in the fridge so it went bad, but that was my mistake! My only recommendation would be to change the Litter Genie's bag as it was extremely full (and take out the stinky trash), but that's a tip to all sitters :) Thanks, Sonia!

Sonia was great! The fact that she’s a vet tech left me with great confidence my fur babes were in good hands. we received updates with pictures as she came to visit them. They ate well which means they felt comfortable and safe, especially our finicky boy. The ONLY reason I am giving 4 stars right now is mearly the fact that this is our first time res. with Sonia. I look forward to using her in the future and sending that to a 5!!

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
