I'm Layla

Cat Sitting in Boston, MA

Hi, I'm Layla! As a Biology major, I bring a detail-oriented, science-backed approach to cat sitting. I don’t just "feed and go"—I prioritize understanding your cat’s unique body language and health needs. My passion for specialized care started with my own senior dog, Roxy, who lived to be 18. That experience gave me a "soft spot" for senior cats and those with disabilities or chronic conditions.
Why I’m a great fit for your feline friend:
• Medical Expertise: I am highly experienced with asthma (inhaler spacers) and cancer care. I’m comfortable administering oral medications and following strict health protocols with a gentle touch.
• The "Slow Approach": I specialize in cats with separation anxiety. I know that trust is earned, so I use a patient, low-stress approach to make sure even the shiest kitties feel safe...

• Observant Care: My academic background means I’m naturally trained to monitor changes in appetite, litter box habits, and energy levels, giving you total peace of mind.
What to expect during my visits:
I love to provide "updates with personality"—expect plenty of photos and stories about our time together! Whether your cat wants an intense play session with a feather wand or just a quiet human presence to sit nearby while I study, I adapt my energy to theirs. I’m also happy to help with light plant watering or mail collection to keep your home running smoothly.
I can't wait to meet your kitty and ensure their routine stays perfectly on track!
A Quick Note on "Cat Language":
In your previous draft, you mentioned a "kitty wagging its way into your schedule." Since some cat owners are very protective, I swapped that for "adapting my energy to theirs" or "purring their way into my schedule." It shows you know that a wagging tail on a cat usually means they're a bit grumpy!
Would you like me to help you come up with a list of "Cat Health Check" questions to ask owners during your first meeting?

Learn More About Layla

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have 7 years of dedicated experience caring for animals in both personal and professional settings. My journey began with providing intensive, specialized care for my 18-year-old senior dog, Roxy, but over the last seven years, I have expanded my expertise to include a wide variety of feline temperaments and health needs. My experience includes: • Long-Term Medical Care: Because of my Biology background, I am highly comfortable with the technical side of cat care. Over the last 7 years, I’ve gained experience with senior cats and those managing chronic conditions like asthma (using inhalers/spacers) and cancer. • Behavioral Expertise: I specialize in "hard-to-bond" cats. Whether they have separation anxiety or are just naturally shy, I use my 7 years of experience to read their body language and build trust at their own pace.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

After 7 years of sitting, I still get a thrill when a 'difficult' cat decides I’m their new best friend. It’s a testament to the patience I learned growing up with my senior dog, Roxy.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

After 7 years of sitting, I still get a thrill when a 'difficult' cat decides I’m their new best friend. It’s a testament to the patience I learned growing up with my senior dog, Roxy. What I love most about cat sitting is the process of earning a cat’s trust. Unlike dogs, who often give their affection freely, cats require you to be observant, patient, and respectful of their boundaries. As a Biology student, I find the subtle language of cats a slow blink, a relaxed tail, or a sudden "zoomie" to be endlessly fascinating.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Boston cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
