I'm certified in pet first aid and I will go to any lengths to make sure your cats are safe and happy while you're away. I can give cats medications like insulin injections, pills, oral liquids, eye drops, subQ fluids etc. I would love to learn how to administer inhaler medication. (please make sure to book at least 45 minute visits if medication will need to be administered.) I'm very patient and I've taken care of dozens of cats, from the most rambunctious to super shy, from 1 day old to 21 years old. I can usually make friends with shy kitties and get senior cats to play.

I've had cats since I was a toddler and currently one kitty of my own: Fate the senior house panther. (Nickname: Princess Purrclaws.) and often a foster kitten or cat. I have taken care of small mammals, turtles, dogs, rabbits, chickens, and even horses and cows.

Besides being a cat nerd, I love nature and ecology, molecular biology, and anything plant-related. Also I can give you advice on which plants and flowers are non-toxic to cats, and take expert care of your houseplants and garden! 🪴

I look forward to taking care of your cat(s)!

Learn More About Alice Ceila

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been catsitting all sorts of kittens and cats for many years. I love every single cat I take care of, and tailor my interactions to their needs. I also have worked for a total of 4 years in two different cat cafés as a cat maven, so I have experience with large groups of kitties.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love to earn trust from cats and give them a wonderful experience with whatever they need. Cats rule everything around me. I love getting senior cats to play and shy cats to make friends! I like to learn new skills too.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My cat Fate is a senior black shorthair who is SO sweet. She takes her meds like a champ and doesn't even mind getting her nails trimmed (not very much anyway). She likes to climb on my back and make biscuits on my head. I also have a long-term foster cat named Moishe who is an undersocialized tripod kitty (he used to be a feral outdoor cat but can no longer live outside due to only having 3 legs).

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

From my volunteer fostering and cat cafe experience, I have worked with many new and prospective cat parents. I can offer extensive advice for new cat parents (or any people who have questions!)

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am often available on holidays. Feel free to message me as far in advance as you want and I can plan around future reservations.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Mylar dragonfly toy from Rompicats. My senior cat loves it, and most other cats do too. A few very shy cats have been timid around the rustling sound it makes, so for those cats I suggest a feather wand or a cat dancer. Also tissue paper! Cats love the crinkle!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I try to enter the cat's space quietly and slowly. My first step is to sit quietly in the cat's presence for a while. As time permits I am happy to bring a book and sit for half an hour letting the cat get used to me, free of charge. Engaging a cat's hunting instinct is a great way to help them overcome their fear, so I then will take their favorite toy and calmly engage their interest.

Ceila went above and beyond to keep us in the loop. She has a lot of experience from voluteering and taking care of her own cat with medical issues. One of our two cats take a lot of medication, has a sever heart disease, and very scared of strangers. He fought back much more than we anticipated, bur Ceila managed to give him pills. She communicated with us the whole time and worked with us to find the best solution.

Ceila was absolutely wonderful with our cats when we were out of town for a week — she’s a natural with shy cats! This was our first time booking with Ceila and it went perfectly! She’s organized, good with communication, and she seems very reliable! I hate to leave our cats, and Ceila made me feel more at ease about it than usual. I felt like I didn’t need to worry about the cats at all, which was fantastic. So thrilled that I found the perfect sitter for our two cats. She also takes amazing photos and proactively brought inside several packages. thank you!!!

Ceila is the absolute best. Our two cats both love her SO much, and it makes us so happy to know that our boys have a friend visiting who they both truly love! Ceila is extremely reliable and we have never felt more at ease leaving our cats than with her. She always gives our cats equal attention (and she takes marvelous action photos of them happily playing). Thank you, Ceila!

I've booked her multiple times and would do so again without a second thought. From the moment you book, she's responsive and easy to communicate with. During visits, she sends photos and videos consistently, total peace of mind every time. She's attentive, dependable, and treats your cats like her own (and she even watered my plants when I asked!) If you're looking for a sitter you can trust and keep coming back to, look no further.

Alice was absolutely amazing with our two cats, Julius and Baby. Baby is scared of everyone. Sometimes she even runs away and hides when we come home. But Alice charmed her into coming out and eating. Both of our cats require precisely measured veterinary food and she gave them exactly the amount called for. She sent us adorable photos and was otherwise a thorough communicator. We would and will absolutely book Alice again, and we would recommend her to anyone we know who has a cat.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
