I have extensive experience with cats, both social and unsocial, and with caring for sick/elderly animals on hospice care. I can administer subq ... I'm a cat lover through and through. Whether they're seniors set in their ways, shy kitties whose trust needs to be earned slowly, insane kittens, or head queens who run the home, I adore them all!

I've been involved with rescue for over 8 years and I'm currently VP of a non-profit in CA, Feral Freedom Northern California, which works to eliminate the unnecessary euthanasia of healthy shelter animals.
I'm also available for temporary colony care and TNR assistance!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been cat sitting for about 3 years, though I've been fostering and involved with cat rescue for about 8. I've cared for cats with all kinds of medical needs and social levels.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Mouse is the queen who runs the house and is our only "traditional" adoption. Taco is from Mexico, we adopted him from the Humane Society in Cozumel. He's the wildest of the bunch. Pumpkin was supposed to be a hospice foster situation but we were actually able to get him lifesaving treatment. He's a permanent family member now. Pandora was the first cat I ever TNRed. She wasn't social when I trapped her so she was released and I took care of her outside in a little colony for 3 years. When I moved to Portland she was friendly enough to move inside and come with.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Totally depends on the cat, but going at their pace is a must. Often times when people try too hard it makes the cats uncomfortable. Somethings I'll do are casually start playing with a toy, sit quietly in the same room as the nervous kitty, offer treats, and slow blinks.

Rachel took excellent care of my little beasts. They each needed meds each day and she was able to deal with that and still give them a fun time. Her attention to detail and her observations were so helpful, and I felt like I could relax a little on my trip knowing my kitties were being taken care of so well. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Portland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
