What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

With a lifelong dedication to animal welfare and three years of professional sitting experience, I provide reliable and compassionate care for cats of all ages. My background includes extensive animal shelter volunteering, which has equipped me with the patience and techniques needed to bond with cats of every temperament. Over seven years of experience have been dedicated to managing complex health needs, specifically: Proficiency in giving injections and shots. Extensive practice administering subcutaneous (SQ) fluids. A Proven Track Record of Care Experience with multiple generations of pets has fostered a deep understanding of feline longevity. Previous companions include a dog, Bacchus, who reached 17, and two cats, Gustav and Wolfie, who lived to 21 and 19 respectively. Currently, the household is home to Fritz and Frank, two energetic three-year-old kitties who keep my hands-on skills sharp and up-to-date.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

The Rewards of Feline Companionship Deep Connection: The best part of my day is getting to spend genuine quality time with adorable cats. It's truly rewarding. Earning Trust: I cherish the process of building trust with a timid cat, watching them transform from reserved to comfortable and playful right before my eyes. Celebrating Quirks: Every visit is an adventure! I love meeting a diverse cast of furry characters, each with their own unique quirks, personalities, and something special to offer. Delivering Peace of Mind: Ultimately, my goal is to give cat parents the gift of peace of mind, knowing that their beloved feline companions are not just watched, but truly cared for and thriving while they are away.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

A Royal Transition in the Kingdom June of 2025 marked the somber end of an era with the passing of Sir Wolfgang von Stealth, the nearly 19-year-old beloved patriarch. As the kingdom mourns, its future now rests on the small, capable paws of the new royal duo: the spirited Sir Fritz the Decisive and Bold, and the supremely affectionate Sir Frank Dainty Peets, Master of Snuggle. Though their reigns have just begun, they are watched over by the stars. Sir Wolfgang (19) has crossed the rainbow bridge and is once again snuggling close with his esteemed elder brother, Sir Gustav the Incessant (21), guarding their younger siblings from beyond.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Ensure peace of mind while you're away with these key steps: Preparation: Create a detailed profile of your cat's routine, diet, medications, and quirks. Set a realistic budget based on your trip length and visit frequency. Vetting: Get trusted referrals (vet, friends, shelters). Prioritize experience and inquire about pet first-aid/CPR certifications and knowledge of feline behavior. Secure: Always schedule a "Meet & Greet" so your cat can get comfortable. Provide comprehensive, written instructions for feeding, meds, and emergency contacts. Communicate: Define exactly how often and what type of updates (photos/texts) you want while you're gone.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

A consultation and meet and greet to discuss their new cat; age breed, personality, any specific needs or requirements. Discussing feeding schedule, preferred food, and typical daily routine, favorite toys, etc. Communication and setting expectations for their cat's care.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Keeping Things Safe, Sound, and Stress-Free My promise is total happiness for your cat and complete peace of mind for you! 1. Safety Pawtrol: I keep the environment hazard-free by tucking away loose strings and cables, securing all medications immediately after use, keeping the toilet lid down, and promptly washing dirty dishes. 2. Calm & Routine: I strictly maintain your cat's feeding and playtime schedule because consistency is key to reducing anxiety. It's just me and the kitties—no outside visitors or other pets are ever allowed in your home. 3. Communication & Security: We'll agree on clear visit times and a reliable emergency contact method. I get precise instructions for your home security system to ensure your house is locked up tight and secure after every single visit.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am typically available to cover all major holidays! If my travel plans ever require me to be out of town, I commit to providing you with significant advance notice so you have plenty of time to arrange backup care.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

How I Win Over Your Furry Boss My goal is to be your cat's favorite temporary best friend! Earning their trust takes time, respect, and a good game plan: 1. The Low-Pressure Zone: I let your cat take the lead. I never force interaction, instead sitting quietly (maybe reading or checking my phone) to let them observe me and approach on their own terms. 2. Making Friends with Treats: I use slow, gentle movements and a soft voice to create a positive vibe. I also use treats to reward their bravery instantly, especially when they come close or allow a gentle pet. 3. Fun and Comfort: We bond through playtime using their favorite toys to build trust and burn off nervous energy. Crucially, I stick to their usual feeding and play schedule, as predictability is the best way to keep your kitty relaxed!

Crystal took great care of our extreme stranger-avoidant cat. Although she hid the entire two weeks we were gone, Crystal didn’t give up! She supplied us with twice daily pictures and updates everyday. We will gladly hire Crystal again.

Crystal is so flexible and my cats love her! I recently had one of my cats end up in the hospital, so my reservation times for her services kept changing and she was so understanding! She follows the medication routines perfectly and my 2 cats are so comfortable with her. I will definitely be booking Crystal again.

As a repeat customer, i would like to say Crystal did an amazing job taking care of my senior girl and her annoying little brother, whom she monikered the Supervisor. SQLs are never fun to administer, but Crystal took the time and patience to make sure my old grumpy lady got them as needed. And the photos!!! ❤️Thank you Crystal!

Crystal was a good communicator and was very responsive. She pretty quickly charmed our shy and nervous cats so that they all came out to see her and eat their food, and have some playtime. We would happily book her again.

Crystal was a fantastic sitter for our two cats who were shyly adjusting to their new home. Crystal visited 2x per day over the course of 2 days. She met them where they were at and quickly got them to come out of their shell to play. Crystal is reliable and trustworthy we look forward to booking cat sitting with her again in the future!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Portland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
