I am comfortable administering various medications if needed. My oldest cat recieves a daily transdermal medication and an inhaler for athstma which I administer using a feline AeroKat inhaler chamber... Hi there! My name is Marissa. I thrive on caring for and connecting with animals, especially cats. I’ve owned several cats throughout my life and have gained a great deal of knowledge of cat health and behavior over the years. I am the go-to pet sitter for friends and neighbors. In addition to tending to a cat's basic needs, providing a stimulating environment is important for a cat's wellbeing. Whether your cat prefers human interaction, certain toys, or watching cat TV, I'll be sure to find something to entertain your cat while you are away. An enriched cat is a happy cat!
I am comfortable administering various medications if needed. I utilize positive reinforcement techniques to make medication administration as enjoyable as possible. Your cat will be in good hands with me!
I work full time as a Research Associate at OHSU. I have a background in psychology and biology from UC Davis. My work hours are Monday through Friday 7-4, so I will have open availability outside those hours. I'd prefer to do once a day PM visits Mon-Fri and can do twice a day visits on Sat-Sun, but please reach out if you have any special scheduling requests. I will likely be able to accomodate twice a day visits on weekdays if you live in NW Portland. I am happy to provide daily photo and video updates and answer any questions you might have while you are away. Looking forward to meeting you and your kitties!

I have two cats. Moo is a sassy siamese/tabby that I've had since she was a kittten, she is now 11 years old. Milo is a sweet grey and white tuxedo I rescued from the Pixie Project about 7 years ago.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am almost always available during winter Holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I am sometimes avaialble for summer holidays.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Timid or anxious cats require a lot of space and time to gain trust. I let them decide when they are ready to interact.

I really appreciated her attention to detail while I was away - she even noticed a change in the litter box and reached out immediately (it turned out to be just the Pretty Litter). During our meet I notified weve taken our cat to the vet 3x & has a skin condition. It got worse while we were away & reported us to the app & animal control officer. Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Portland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Marissa was fantastic! She did all we asked of her and more; she brought him treats and interesting toys to explore so he wouldn’t be too bored between visits. Even watered plants and brought in the mail. She’s very observant and notices when something isn’t as it should be, and quick to communicate any concerns.
