I have owned and lived with cats for over 20 years, and cannot imagine my life without them! My first cat was a gorgeous and sassy calico Ragamuffin that approached us on the street on our way home from school. After finding out that she didn’t have a home, she was dubbed Goldie and moved in to stay with us permanently, becoming an integral part of our family. A few years later, when we visited our local shelter to see the cats as we tended to do to pass time, we saw an affectionate yellow tabby kitten and knew he would be a great fit for our home. Having Charlie and Goldie nurtured my love for cats and brought me much peace and comfort throughout the years, and I hope to help care for the fur babies that offer... Hello, I’m Janette!

I have experience giving my cats medication via oral droppers and would be comfortable doing the same for other cats. My cats had a hard time taking their oral medicine, so wrapping them with a towel would calm them down enough to be able to take it. So if your cat has a calming method that works for them when taking medicine, please let me know :) I will make sure to send photos and updates each visit so that you are reassured that your cat is doing well.
I am a remote worker, and can typically take breaks during the day for any lunchtime visits. Because of this, I can accommodate most timing preferences and work in my spare time. I am based in Foster-Powell, and although sitting in SE would be preferred, I would consider most neighborhoods in the Portland metro area that are accessible by bike or public transportation. I look forward to meeting and caring for your kitties!
I am fully vaccinated and follow all COVID protocols recommended by the CDC and mandated by the State of Oregon and other local governments.

Was very ecstatic to find a last-minute sitter to watch over our cats while we were out of town for a week. We're really flexible and that in turn worked very well with Janette. We don't have a scheduled feeding time for our cats. They were well cared for and played with. Our home was taken care of and left exactly how we left it. We got photos and updates on how the visits went. We were often in areas without internet but were happy when we got service to see photos and updates on our cats. I highly recommend Janette for your cat sitting needs. We are traveling as much as we used to these days, but if we do, I would definitely see if Janette is available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Portland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
