Cat Sitting in Philadelphia, PA

I am sometimes called "The Cat Whisperer". Cats that normally don't trust people will amaze their owners by approaching me, and allow me to get close and pet them. I have literally had cats follow me down the street.

I consider my ability to bond with these beautiful creatures a true privilege and blessing. I will love your fur babies just as much as my own, and understand the bond you share with them is precious. I pay attention to detail, and communicate regularly with owners to give them updates...

I consider my ability to bond with these beautiful creatures a true privilege and blessing. I will love your fur babies just as much as my own, and understand the bond you share with them is precious. I pay attention to detail, and communicate regularly with owners to give them updates. I understand how tough it can be to leave your babies, and I go above and beyond to provide individualized care to alleviate worry. I'm very conscious of cleanliness (maybe I was a cat in a past life):) and I've been told I leave houses cleaner than how I found them.

I hold dear every single relationship I've had with a cat, and know what an honor it is to be loved by a cat. Not having any human kids, my cats have been my babies. I can't remember a time when I didn't have one. Cats induce a meditative calm.

I have been working with animals for 20 years, including 10 years as a vet tech. I've done numerous pet sitting jobs for about 15 years.

Learn More About Colleen

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

have almost 25 years of experience caring for animals. I began my career at a boarding/adoption kennel. I was responsible for ensuring the safety, and comfort of dogs and cats, which were entrusted to our care, which included: walking dogs; housekeeping; feeding; administering medications; transport of animals for routine or emergent vet care; bathing dogs; tending to our cattery (at least 3x a day, in a separate building); and assisting with adoptions in order to ensure proper placement of animals in a safe and loving home. I have also worked in 4 animal hospitals.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

It isn’t work to me! It’s medicine for the soul! I enjoy the various purrsonalities, and love every cat I meet. I feel so relaxed and fortunate to be doing something that I absolutely love!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 5: Shylo and Stormy (black brothers); Sarge (orange); Foster (long haired cream color), and Jaspurr (brown/black tabby).

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

When the owner informs me of this, I ask for their favorite toys and treats, and always have them available. I always come to houses with a laser pointer, and if the owner says it’s allowed, I’ll try to break the ice that way too. I make sure I give them their space, and don’t pet them, unless they come to me. I talk very soothingly to them, and move slowly around them. I realize I am a complete stranger, and some cats just won’t warm up, which is understandable. Leaving the TV or radio on a soft setting can help keep them company and relax them. I never force them.

I had a positive experience with Colleen overall. She helped me plan for my upcoming trip and made helpful recommendations ( pocket pill treats, pet pill gun, rearranging the furniture to administer SubQ fluids). Unfortunately I was unable to book her for my upcoming trip ( medical emergency). However, she gave me enough time to start looking for another sitter before my upcoming trip ( which I really appreciate). She also went above and beyond to help assist me with finding a replacement sitter. Colleen’s help made administer SubQ fluids easier , and if available I would definitely book her again.

absolutely, highly recommend Colleen. the cats LOVED her. she's very good with all 3. I was recovering at home but couldn't do litter box, feedings. in addition to all that, she was kind enough to bring me water from downstairs ( confined to 2nd floor) and put trash out for me. cleaned up after them, played with them, gave me great tips for their care and always on time. if she had to be a little late, she updated me with what was happening. also, fun to talk to. you will absolute not regret hiring her. Best pet sitter!!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Philadelphia cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
