What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

My experience with cat sitting goes back most of my life. I’ve always been the go-to person in my friend and family circle for cat and dog sitting — the one people trust with their pets, routines, and homes while they’re away. More formally, I’ve been sitting through Meowtel for about three years, on and off, as my schedule has allowed. During that time, I’ve cared for a wide range of cats with different personalities, routines, and needs, and I approach every sit with the same level of care, attention, and reliability — whether it’s for a weekend or a longer stretch.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

My favorite thing about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s personality and earning their trust over time. I love noticing the small shifts — when a shy cat starts hanging out nearby, when a routine starts to feel familiar, or when a cat decides I’m finally worthy of a slow blink or a head bump. Being part of that process and helping cats feel safe and comfortable in their own space is genuinely rewarding!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite reservations was with two cats I had just met who ended up being incredibly cuddly. Once all of their care was taken care of, they both climbed onto my lap and spent the rest of the visit sitting there together. It was one of those moments that felt really special — lots of pets, cuddles, and quiet quality time while their owner was away. Experiences like that are a big part of why I love cat sitting.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I have a cat named Poboy, and he’s six. His favorite activities include lounging in the sun on our patio, snoozing in his high-rise cat condo, and chomping on kitty grass. Living with Poboy has made me even more tuned in to how much cats value routine, comfort, and being able to enjoy their space in their own way.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Clear entry and parking instructions are always helpful, along with making sure food, treats, meds, and toys are easy to find. A quick overview of your cat’s routine and preferences goes a long way, too. Once that’s covered, you can leave the rest to me — my goal is to take the stress off your mind and make sure your cat feels comfortable and cared for while you’re away!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

If time permits and the client prefers, a meet-and-greet and quick walk-through of the space is a great place to start. It helps me understand your cat’s routine, personality, and where everything is located. If timing doesn’t allow for that, I’m completely comfortable jumping right in as long as entry and parking instructions are clear, along with any notes on care, routines, or priorities for the visit. From there, I follow your cat’s routine closely, take care of all agreed-upon tasks, and make sure there’s plenty of quality time — whether that’s play, pets, or calm companionship. My goal is always to make things feel easy and stress-free for both you and your cat.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I’m very mindful of safety and security while I’m in someone else’s space. I follow entry and exit instructions closely, double-check doors and gates, and make sure everything is locked and secure before I leave. I’m careful about not letting cats slip outside and always do a quick scan of the space to be sure everything looks as it should. I also treat each home with the same level of respect and care that I would my own — keeping things tidy, being discreet, and communicating right away if anything seems off. My goal is for you to feel confident that both your cat and your home are in good hands while you’re away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I move slowly, quietly, and always let shy or anxious cats set the pace. I don’t force interaction and focus instead on creating a calm, predictable presence so they can observe and get comfortable in their own time. My own cat, Poboy, is shy and anxious, so I’m very familiar with how important patience, routine, and low-pressure visits can be. Over time, that consistency often builds trust — whether that looks like sitting nearby, offering play from a distance, or simply giving them space while making sure all their needs are met.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
