I'm Chrissy

Cat Sitting in Denver, CO

TL;DR: I’m a cat mom with two cats of my own, shelter experience, and experience caring for cats with medical and behavioral needs. I’m big on reading each cat’s personality, keeping their routine consistent, and making sure they feel comfortable while their humans are away. I’ll take care of your cat and your home the way I’d want someone to care for mine.

I have two cats of my own, a senior gentleman and a rowdy teenager, and they’ve taught me a lot about how different cats can be. I’ve worked through behavioral challenges and complicated cat dynamics, and I have experience giving medications to my own cats, including pills, liquids, and topical medications. Before moving to Denver, I also volunteered at an animal shelter where I worked specifically with cats, including helping evaluate behavior and socialize cats who were fearful, nervous, or learning to live indoors. I’ve learned that there really isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to cats.

I know firsthand how hard it can be to leave your cats behind when you travel...

Before moving to Denver, I also volunteered at an animal shelter where I worked specifically with cats, including helping evaluate behavior and socialize cats who were fearful, nervous, or learning to live indoors. I’ve learned that there really isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to cats.

I know firsthand how hard it can be to leave your cats behind when you travel. They’re family, and it’s a big deal to trust someone else with their care. My goal is to give you the same peace of mind I’d want when someone is caring for my own cats. When I’m caring for a cat, I try to meet them exactly where they are. Some cats want to play, some want a lap and a million pets, and some are perfectly happy having you quietly hang out nearby. I pay attention to their body language and let them decide how much interaction they want rather than expecting them to engage with me. With shy or nervous cats, I use calm, predictable movements and give them the time and space they need to build trust. I also love enrichment and think it’s a great way to keep cats mentally stimulated and happy while their people are away.

During a typical visit, I’ll take care of the practical stuff like food, fresh water, dishes, litter, and any other care instructions, then spend the rest of the visit doing whatever your cat needs that day: play, enrichment, snuggles, pets, or simply some quiet company. I’m big on being efficient and making sure everything that needs to get done gets done, but I never want a visit to feel rushed. I’ll keep you updated while you’re away and communicate anything I notice, big or small. And while I’m there for your cat, I’m also a guest in your home. I’ll follow your house rules, respect your space, and leave things the way I found them, because I’d want the same from someone caring for my cats.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know the unique personality of each cat. Every cat is different, and I think their little quirks, routines, and funny behaviors are so fun to discover. I also really love earning a cat’s trust. It feels like such an honor when a cat, especially a shy or nervous one, decides that you’re someone they feel safe around. Getting to that point is always really rewarding.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two cats: Bera, who is 14, and Asana, who is 4. They look like twins, but they aren’t the same age or even from the same state! Bera is a cuddly, sweet old man who has perfected the art of being cozy, while Asana is the vibrancy and energy of the house. They couldn’t be more different, and I love them both for it.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Probably a wand toy! I love watching cats get to tap into their inner hunter, and my younger cat has definitely turned me into quite the wand toy expert. I also love simple enrichment activities, like cutting holes in a toilet paper roll and filling it with treats for a cat to bat around. But honestly, the best toy is whatever works for that individual cat. Some cats want to hunt, some want to chase, and some have very strong opinions about what does and does not qualify as a toy.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
