Cat Sitting in Denver, CO

I already love your cats!

A Garfield book on cats drove me to become a better reader as a kid. I had to learn all I could about them. Growing up, I always had a cat at my side. That's still true. I have been a cat owner for more than 20 years. I raised Sid and Ghost for 18 and 19 years, respectively. Now, littermates Ember and October reside with me in cat luxury and are desperately trying to teach little brother Lafayette how to be less pesty. His name is from True Blood, not Hamilton. Don't give me too much credit.

I teach high school during the day and find myself saying the same things at work that I do at home to the cats: "Why are you wet?" "Please stop playing with the blinds!" "You know you aren't allowed on the counter...

I teach high school during the day and find myself saying the same things at work that I do at home to the cats: "Why are you wet?" "Please stop playing with the blinds!" "You know you aren't allowed on the counter." "Whoa, you are genuinely brilliant!"

More seriously, being a teacher means I am attentive to detail, patient, empathetic, and a wicked multitasker who can make critical decisions on a dime. I understand that everyone is different and has different needs to be comfortable and grow.

I am readily available in NE Denver (GVR, Montbello, Gateway, DIA). During the school year, I can visit before and after school on weekdays and mornings or evenings on weekends. Location in Service Zone 2 may limit my availability, but I am happy to chat with you to see if I can accommodate your request. Reach out and I will let you know.

My availability is much more flexible on school breaks, so if you need a summertime sitter with lots of time, I've got you covered and the boxes scooped.

I can't wait to meet your cat and be BFFs. Like my students are "my kids" forever. My cat clients are "my kits" forever! I am the sitter I would want to take care of Ember, Tober and Lafi.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have had my own cats all of my life, but started sitting regularly for a neighbor with five cats that had various health/social needs in 2021. The experience made me realize how much I genuinely enjoyed caring for these kitties even though they weren't my own. I decided to offer the sitting services more broadly because I also know how stressful it is to find consistent, competent, and genuine care when you need to leave your fur kids at home for a bit. I knew others in my area would appreciate having someone they can trust easily accessible.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Scooping! Just kidding! Earning the trust and friendship of a cat is a great honor.I love getting to know new kitties and ensuring that they are as happy as possible with their humans away. Time with my kitty pals is also an excellent way to end a day calmly and in service to another living creature that deserves love and care. Sometimes, sitting has re-centered me after a challenging day. I remember one of my gorgeous senior clients sitting on my lap, purring his big purr, and gazing calmly at me after a rough day. He just made everything better. He got some extra time that day.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I currently have three of my own cats: Ember, October, and Lafayette. Previously, I had two super seniors who I raised from kittens. My best friend used to say "No cat has ever loved a human like Sid loves PJ."

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Be sure to completely fill out your profile, including age and health details about all of your cats so you guarantee your sitter is comfortable taking on the booking. You'll want a strong skill match and time to book another sitter should you find the first match wasn't perfect. Ask a bunch if questions until you feel comfortable, too!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I am very responsive to requests and you will hear from me very quickly (so long as it isn't the middle of the night). I will review your reservation request, location, and visit timing to ensure I can time your visits as requested. But, so long as you aren't requesting anything that violates Meowtel policy (like letting the cats outside), I try to accommodate all reservation requests. I will then message you an overview and set up a time for the meet and greet to meet the kitties, learn their care routine, and pick up a key. I take care of the rest!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I am incredibly detail oriented. I carefully enter and exit your home using only the space I need to get through the door. Once inside, I will lock the door again behind me. If I find anything during the visit that could hurt a kitty, I will remove the hazard. For instance, perhaps I find an aspirin bottle with a loose lid left out. I will secure the lid, store the bottle in a cabinet or drawer, take a pic and send it as part of my update. As an additional step, I take pics of closed/locked doors as I leave and send them along for your peace of mind and mine.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am most available during holidays. I work in a school, so I am off in the summer, during school breaks, and school holidays. In fact, I have the most flexibility at times people often plan to be out of town and need extended help.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

While I will locate them and take pics for you if they don't get too scared about it, I don't pursue them to force friendship. That doesn't work and only scares them and feeds into distrust. I demonstrate through my actions that I won't hurt them and am only there to help. I am also not loud or heavy footed so they can observe and make the first move. Most eventually come to be friends.

PJ is, by far, the truest cat whisperer. PJ was able to give Mortimer his asthma inhaler without any issues. Kept us up to date with the most amazing pictures and even helped us spoil the kittens with shrimp. Trust me, Meowtel has picked up one of the greatest providers.

Finding PJ was a literal answered prayer. I was so apprehensive about trusting a sitter with my two girls, but the moment PJ walked in, all my worries evaporated. Their aura just screams 'cat person.' I have one very social cat and one who is incredibly shy; seeing my shy girl immediately roll over on her belly for PJ within seconds was all the proof I needed. PJ is calm, thorough, and so attentive. I finally feel completely at ease when I’m out of town knowing my girls are in such capable hands. I am beyond grateful!!!!

P J was fantastic. The daily updates and the included pictures of the kitties were a huge plus. We couldn't have asked for a more caring and considerate sitter; especially with one of our cats having severe anxiety issues and another being very shy. Would absolutely recommend.

PJ was an amazing cat sitter! She somehow managed to get a cat that usually only purrs for my husband to purr for her. We got tons of great photos and updates, including showing us the doors were locked, which gave me peace of mind! The house was clean and everything was neat, organized, and the kids were happy! PJ is an absolute amazing cat sitter and we will definitely use her in the future!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
