What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting since I was a child. I would stop over at neighbors’ houses for their cats who didn’t need overnight care, and that turned into doing stop-ins and overnights regularly! I have many decades of experience caring for mammals.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Learning about what each cat needs. Some just need a buddy nearby, some need extra care and attention. Each cat is so very different! It can be so stressful for some cats to have their people away, so I try my best to make sure they’re ok until you come home.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I don’t currently have any cats at home because I’m so busy taking care of everyone else’s cats and dogs!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Write down as many questions as you can think of before asking a potential sitter, READ THROUGH their profile to ensure they might be a good match (schedule, geographic work areas, specialties, or services they can’t provide), and have detailed information about yourself and your cat in your profile before reaching out to interview a sitter.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

The more detailed the notes written in the app and provided inside the house (on a table or fridge), the better! I love getting more information than less. That way I’m not asking you for things while you’re away!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I ask lots of questions, do my best not to assume anything about what a cat may or may not need, and communicate concerns right away.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! My repeat clients tend to book me far in advance, so if you’re looking for someone, do your best to plan ahead. Sometimes emergencies come up, and that’s understandable, but if you’re thinking about booking a trip, book the sitter first before anything else.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Anything covered in catnip or covering catnip. Whatever your cat(s) favorite toys are, they’re my favorite too. That’s what matters most.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

For timid cats, I give them time and space to figure out if they want to be seen by me or be close by. Anxious cats are tricky, but deserving of good care. Owners should let a potential sitter know everything about their cats so we can figure out if a behavior during a visit is their normal or something else that may need medical attention. Cats can behave very differently when their people are gone.
