Growing up, my family regularly fostered cats and kittens, so caring for felines of all ages, personalities, and backgrounds has always come naturally to me. From energetic kittens to shy rescues and senior cats, I’ve learned that every cat is unique and deserves patience, understanding, and individualized care.
My love for cats also became part of my professional experience when I worked at a local emergency veterinary hospital in Washington, DC... Hi! I’m Sahur, and cats have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Growing up, my family regularly fostered cats and kittens, so caring for felines of all ages, personalities, and backgrounds has always come naturally to me. From energetic kittens to shy rescues and senior cats, I’ve learned that every cat is unique and deserves patience, understanding, and individualized care.
My love for cats also became part of my professional experience when I worked at a local emergency veterinary hospital in Washington, DC. There, I gained hands-on experience with feline intake and triage, helping assess incoming patients, comfort anxious cats and their owners, and support the veterinary team in a fast-paced environment. That experience taught me how to recognize changes in behavior, remain calm under pressure, and provide compassionate care when cats need it most.
I recently wrapped up my internship and am excited to get back into cat sitting something I’ve genuinely missed. Whether your cat loves to play, prefers quiet companionship, or just needs someone reliable to stick to their routine, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I’ve always loved being around cats, and cat sitting gives me the chance to spend time with them while I’m finishing college. Between classes and internships, I’ve chosen to wait until I can give a cat of my own the attention and long-term commitment they deserve. In the meantime, I love getting to know each cat’s unique personality!!It’s honestly the best of both worlds because I get to do something I genuinely love while helping give pet owners peace of mind.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My process always starts with communication. Before the first visit, I like to learn about your cat’s routine, personality, favorite toys, feeding schedule, medications (if any), and any specific preferences or tasks you’d like me to take care of. I also ask about anything you’d prefer I avoid so I can provide care exactly the way you’re comfortable with. Having worked at an emergency veterinary hospital, I’ve learned how important it is to prepare for the unexpected. I like to review emergency contacts, your preferred veterinary clinic, and what you’d like me to do if a health concern or emergency arises. My goal is to make sure both you and your cat feel comfortable, confident, and cared for through clear communication, reliability, and personalized care.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! I’m generally very flexible during the holidays. As a college student, I receive time off for federal holidays as well as extended academic breaks, which gives me greater availability when many pet parents are traveling. If you’re planning a trip, I’d be happy to discuss your dates and do my best to accommodate your cat’s care needs.

Sahur is an absolutely magical cat-sitter. From the first meet and greet, it was clear how much she genuinely adores cats. My regular sitter was unavailable, and Sahur looked after my two kitties for 4 nights. She was super communicative and responsive, sent lots of photos and videos, played with them every day, and even shared cute little observations about their personalities in her updates! I came home to two very content kitties and an immaculate house! Couldn't recommend Sahur more highly -- I'm so glad to have found a second trusted sitter who takes such loving care of my babies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
