Regarding cat care, I am extremely detail-oriented, so I will make sure to take care of your pets exactly as you need.
I love to get to know cats’ personalities and find out what makes each one happy and comfortable. This means that I will read your instructions carefully and gently let your cat get to know me at the pace and manner that works best for them. I am fully vaccinated + boosted, and I always wash my hands before and after I visit a home.
With each visit, you will receive photos of your pets and a full visit summary. I am also happy to bring in your mail, sweep and vacuum the litter area, and brush your cats if you would like!
My schedule is fairly regular - I have a 9-5 job on weekdays, so I am happy to check on your loved ones in the morning and evening on weekdays and anytime on weekends. I also like to keep my Meowtel calendar updated, so feel free to rely on the calendar provided here. I am currently comfortable servicing many neighborhoods in the DC/Northern Virginia area, including but not limited to Foggy Bottom, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Palisades, Arlington, Fairfax, Falls Church, Alexandria, Potomac Yards, Del Ray, Bailey's Crossroads, Rosslyn, and Crystal City.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love meeting new cats! Whether they’re shy, playful, affectionate, or cautious, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know them. As a cat parent myself, I also enjoy being able to give peace of mind to other pet parents while they travel.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I always offer an in-person meet and greet to all new clients (with virtual options if that is preferable)! During the meet and greet, I take detailed notes on how you would like your cat to be cared for. This includes notes on their food, water, litter boxes, medicine, favorite hiding spots, favorite toys, if they like to run out the door, and how they like to meet new people. I want to make each new client feel assured that their cat (and home!) will be taken care of so that they can travel in peace!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety and security starts with the meet and greet! I always ask about favorite hiding places or spots where the cat(s) might get stuck. If I don’t see the kitty in the first few minutes of the visit, I make sure that they are safe and inside the apartment. As someone who has also suffered from an apartment flood, I always make sure to check that there aren’t any leaks or issues with the home, and that any windows/doors that should be closed remain so. And of course, I always make sure the door is locked before leaving!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I love getting to know each cat’s personality and gently building trust. With cats who are more anxious, I will sit quietly on the floor for a while with some treats if possible and let them come to me on their own terms. With time, I have found that even the most shy kitties are curious enough to give a brief hello!

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
